Thought I'd share some new releases and recent finds with the board.
Sex Fever (Pr1vate Records) - went for the pink vinyl but ended up with black. Much better than I thought it would be. Having enjoyed everything Jay has released so far, this was a no-brainer when the release notification email arrived. It came with a vibrator. This label name is Vagienna with cat # VAG-01 which makes me giggle.
Breakheart Pass -- Jerry Goldsmith soundtrack to a 1975 Charles Bronson movie. This is a Japanese (probably bootleg) label called Poo Records which also makes me giggle.
L'Antichristo -- Ennio Morricone & Bruno Nicolai. This is a great example of what makes soundtracks fascinating as a musical medium. What would the antichrist sound like? Morricone/Nicolai paint their picture using wild, brooding and at times beautiful violins. Finding this for 20 cents in a bulk 45 bin was a lot of fun!
The Raid 2 - Joseph Trapanese - This is Spacelab9's recent release which received a treatment similar to Breaking Bad minus the printed inner sleeves. The score is driving and often intense with a balance of electronic and orchestral components. Though the release didn't generate much fanfare you should snag a copy! This variant, Crimson Rain, is limited to 165 units and still in stock on Spacelab9's web store.
Witchboard theme 7" -- I love the theme but didn't care for the second track Bump In The Night.
One Way Static's newest release, a re-score to Phantom of the Opera by The Laze, turned out great. Splatter is the way to go- the white/black splatter on clear really pops and looks awesome. Still need to use the access code to watch the movie synced with the new score.
Chopping Mall has been posted a few times. Love the glossy finish on the cover. It's a terrific synth soundtrack!
Speaking of terrific synth soundtracks, Surf Nazis Must Die is a must-buy. Very impressive first release from Strange Disc!
