I went to a record swap yesterday and picked this up still sealed:

Anyone know if the movie is any good?

I played the hell out of this lp when it came out, and still enjoy it to this day. I liked the movie too, kind of a WILD BUNCH flavor with a definite WILD BUNCH shoot 'em up ending. The main title sequence is synched to the music and lets you know this is a tough guy movie coming up. The 1st track on side 2 - The Plan - was not used in the film and was replaced with another version (that appeared on the much later CD reissue from LaLa Land Records). Crank it up & enjoy!

Nice Tam pressing. Dagored pressed it 10-15 years ago, that one can be found for pretty low prices.

@Ed @static - Indeed, I love Carter Burwell's scores. I also recommend the Blood Simple/Raising Arizona split album, Fargo, etc. (ok, all of them).

I picked up a couple acoustic/piano focused releases this week from two of my favorite artists:

Here is more info on the Frizzi acoustic album: LINK

@max -- beauties! I'm definitely very curious about the Tenebre compilation...

Here's my weekly round-up, a few monster finds in here!

I'm a big Jonathan Elias fan, Vamp and Children of the Corn are both classics. Wasn't sure what to expect from a Zalman King soft core 80s score - it's surprisingly awesome! Real shades of Vangelis, especially Blade Runner in the use of big symphonic strings, rhythms and sexy sax! Me likey.

Love the sleeve...this is selections from the original TV soundtrack by Nelson Riddle of course. Utter badassery.

Such a shame that this doesn't include a single cue from Bill Conti's incredibly stirring score...but had to have it. The film is without doubt one of the greatest American movies ever made.

It's good! Controversial 80s medieval post-modern fantasy score, with orchestral sitting side by side with big rock. I guess you could argue that A Knight's Tale owes this a bunch? Who the fuck cares.

Boom! Man, wanted this for so long...that sleeve!! Does anyone know the poster artist by any chance? I'd swear it was Richard Corben but I've scoured the net and found nothing. It's gotta be, right?

Finally...just an absolutely perfect, killer horror score.

I came to Conan really late, only saw the film about a year ago! And it absolutely rocked my young world. The score is fucking beyond huge. It's exactly what I reach for when I'm gearing up to crush my enemies, to see them driven before me, and to hear the lamentations of their women.

I second Blue's endorsement! Rousing Goldsmith machismo...the film is a jolt of weapons grade testosterone right into your face! :P

@disco...YOU have to listen to that album...it's one of the best release of this year, really!!! It's so creepy, eerie, atmospheric and gothic (but sounds modern and fresh!) that seems to be magically on the set of Bava's Black Sunday! ;)

The rendition of this track it's unbelievable (the video features the original version):

Today's lunch break grabs: Donaggio's Oltre LA Porta, Jarre's Apology, Duke Pearson's The Phantom, Miles Davis Pangaea, Klemmer Blowin' Gold, and Beastie Boys In Sound from Way Out.

Traded a box of 90 shitty dollar bin records straight up for the Beastie Boys album.
