Quite possibly the coolest bootleg LP I have ever purchased (for shame!):

ImageGodzilla vs. The Smog Monster OST (aka Godzilla vs Hedorah) - Cheddar Brothers Records 2017

Limited to 100 copies on green/silver swirl vinyl, and sold out instantly from what I can tell.

Sound quality is pretty decent to my ragged ears, but I'm not sure of the source material. Psychedelic jazzfunk fireworks with something resembling free-jazz guitar solos, spooky downtempo interludes, and then the corny Godzilla hero theme marches. Even the vocal themes in Japanese put a smile on my face, and they also threw in a low-quality rip of the vocal theme in English to end side B. All of this is off the charts for nostalgia if you are a fan of the film or the Godzilla Showa time period:

Fully expecting a knock on the door any minute now with the cease & desist order from Toho Studios... but until then, play this one at 45rpm. ;}

@deaf

Looks awesome, and from your description I'm keen to hear it too. Never seen the film although I loved watching late night godzilla movies in my youth.
I'm guessing the music is previously unreleased on vinyl?

@Dollar - I believe the main theme and vocal tunes have been released on Godzilla film theme compilation LP's and 45 singles, but I am not sure about the rest of the original score. There was an extensive Japanese CD with mixed dialogue and sound fx from the 90's, but I don't have a copy or rip of it. I need to give the film a fresh watch to see how well it holds up. This new LP seems to be curated well without any dialog/FX and is focused solely on the original score material. Send me a pm if you want to hear some wav rips.

Great record, Paul. If you're not already hip to it, check out the Sinoia Caves' earlier album, The Enchanter Persuaded. I'd love to see that make it to vinyl one day.

@paul, a great pick-up. I remember it was difficult to get for a while, but it seems to be easy to find at a good price these days.

@mateo, thanks for the tip off

I received a nice selection from Finders Keepers yesterday

Yeah you did, Chief. Holy smokes. All four of those are smoking records.

PS - There are a solid handful of us here that are fans of the first Sinoia Caves album. If anyone here doesn't already know, Jeremy Schmidt plays keyboards in Black Mountain as well which is a band of an entirely different color than anything else he does. That said, if you enjoy some good stoner/psych rock, check 'em out.

Agreed. I would also love to hear some new material from the project.

Also, great to see The Antwerp Killer showing up in more collections. I believe the DFC introduced to that one, and it was an excellent recommendation.
