ROM are Republic Of Music my distributors in the UK & Europe and have been servicing record stores with DW product for the last couple of years. They will still be selling our records to stores

Will Light in the Attic still be distributing DW stuff? (Apologies if this has already been answered and I missed it.) With them, my local shops can at least bring stuff in and I don't have to blow cash on shipping craziness, which is an across the board issue not something specific to DW or Mondo.

LITA will still distribute both Mondo & DW AND on top of that we are planning something cool for folks that buy regular from their local store

It will be nice to have LITA distributing Mondo titles as that may be around the TX state sales tax I get hit with on the Mondo site. :)

I'm glad I have a friend that moved to Seattle last year. I think he lives near the shop too, so I might be able to get a few copies for people here.

This is not solving any problems for people outside us or uk where record shops are rare things and dw is not distribuited.Where can we buy without custom problem and reasonable shipping fare?

It's all a scam, Spencer actually owns the tax office and this decision to move to America was a plot to steal our money! The bastard!!

If you don't like paying postage and you don't have any recird shops maybe you should collect flac files instead?

I understand your frustration, @ponsdw. Where are you based? You may be able to buddy with someone here for the occasional release. Other than that, the after market is also good in that you can communicate with the seller and at least ask them to mark the package as "no commercial value" or "gift", so that at the least you avoid those damned import duties :)

Unless it's the super-duper-limited stuff you crave, I find that most soundtracks pop up on Discogs pretty quickly after they're released....it just takes a little more patience I guess. Which can be hard, I know! But I scored a Mondo 2001 from Discogs recently from a US seller (I'm in the UK) and all-in it only came to around £27 GBP. I really wanted that bad boy, and if I'd played the Mondo day-of-release F5 game, it would have cost me a fair bit more AND I'd have wasted an afternoon.......just saying :)

ROM distribute our records all over the world and always have done ask your local store.
You can always order from any uk store and get your record shipped which is no different to ordering on the old DW website.

It's certainly a sphincter-clenching moment to realise that shipping costs have a bit more than doubled, but them's the breaks. Anyway, given the Royal Mail's been privatised UK postage rates will probably double or triple in the next few years and none of this will have mattered anyway.

It's a bit more of a shock to go from being a subber and having first dibs on everything to finding out the fancy variant is sold out before you even woke up! That'll teach me to take my special club priviliges for granted.

Calm dowwwn guys, shipping will fall soon, oil prices decrease every single day! :P

OK, for all the UK people complaining about costs, are you not taking into fact that the exchange rate is in your favor? If it costs $35 for the record, and say, $20 to ship, that's $55 USD, which is 36 GBP as of this morning. That's not really much more than your costs from DW when you ordered in the UK right? Customs fees might come into play, but the exchange rate is something that you have to acknowledge is in your favor. It's not as good for EU folk at 46 Euro, but still, not that bad.

I was going to buy 'They Live' from the Death Waltz site but then it closed down. Any ideas if I can still buy it?

Have the records from the online shop gone into record stores round the UK or something?

Er, no it's almost a third more than I was paying before. I won't pay 36 pounds for a record. Add customs tax and fees you're possibly looking at 50 pounds.

If the stuff turns up in my local store or on Amazon for around 17-19 pounds then I'll probably get, but I won't ever bother looking at the Mondo website.

The exchange rate isn't in our favour, its currently £1=$1.52. Considering we were getting as high as 1.68 in mid 2014 with a low of 1.48 I would say the £/$ exchange rate is pretty poor at the moment.

Got a 10$ refund from Mondo so shipping is now 25€ for 1x12'' and 1x7'', which is fine for me and won't keep me from buying directly from them!

Thanks Mondo/DW!!

This will make my spending on DW more selective sadly as it is too expensive, unless I can get them here. Still, got all the subs and someone has to pay more postage, so cant feel too bitter.

From the new FAQ which might explain some of the shipping issues:

Right now our frustration-proof mailers can only fit two records safely, which may be the cause of some disappointment for those who are used to buying more in an effort to save on shipping. We’re working to develop packaging that can safely accommodate a higher quantity of records in order to cut down on shipping, especially for international customers.
