That's ultimately what put me off from continuing in this game in the first place.
What I'd like to see is labels start supporting record stores, not just on record store day, but all year round. Release stuff in stores, get your fan base to actually get out of their house and communicate with their fellow collectors. The forums are great, but surely they could send a couple of these really exclusive variants to select stores around the globe. That's what a real scene is all about anyway. I just remember the days of going to record shops and being the first to snag a rare promo or white label of something that wouldn't be out for months. Now we're competing with obnoxious flippers with ultra fast internet speeds and no desire to be part of their scene. I like that Death Waltz helps their scene by doing Subscriptions and Event exclusives, etc. Even Mondo for the most part does the same. Not knocking WW or any of the labels doing incredible work, but I think it's time to go about this another way. I first heard about Waxwork by picking up the Reanimator release at Amoeba and became a fan instantly. Sometimes its good to stick to your roots.
