I just got the Criterion blu ray of Scanners yesterday. It had been a long time since I had seen it. Aside from the movie being one his best (up there with Videodrome), I hadn't remembered how good the score was. From what I can find, this hasn't seen any official release at all. I have found an unoffical listing on Discogs, but another site has it for sale with a different cover. Anyway, this score, along with Videodrome, really should be reissued on vinyl. I know I'm not alone on this one, since many were guessing it in the DW mystery contest page.

I wanna but it would require some deep pockets...

Scanners has never been released.
I have a cd of scanners/brood soundtrack.

Videodrome is not too tough to get on LP.

Yeah, I have an original Videodrome vinyl, was around $40 I think. It's pretty short, I feel like there has to be some stuff that wasn't included that would make for good outtakes on a reissue. Scanners would probably have a relatively wide appeal (more so than some of the stuff that DW or Mondo puts out just because it has name recognition), so I'm sure it would sell.

I just have the boot, which is fine enough. I'd love to see it on vinyl someday.

Videodrome would be a killer release for Death Waltz, can't see it in other label.

Hey guys & gals, first post just to say there is a strong indication that Mondo is working on a release of this....

^ Yup. One of Mondo's random test pressing was SCANNERS. MOND-040.

Me too - Scanners would be great on vinyl...with as full an edition as possible (keeping some of the movie sound design if possible - like the scanning 'heartbeat' noise)...

Incidentally some of you might be interested in a Re-Score of Scanners me and some friends did here in Edinburgh last month at Halloween...

It's no reflection on Howard Shore's excellent score though - we picked it because the movie dialogue is almost totally free of music and meant that at the live performance we could keep original actor's voices, foley, etc and not have to resort to subtitles...

Check it out if you get time...

...and at some point we might record a studio version of this for release too as I think it turned out pretty good...

Thanks...was quite time consuming but I enjoyed doing it...

We even had a 'troublemaker' at the gig...some guy (who later, as the bouncers were escorting him from the building, claimed to be a big Cronenberg fan) who was swigging red wine (nothing wrong with that of course), listening to some different music on his phone whilst the movie on, talking loudly to himself almost constantly and wandering around the cinema...what a guy!

Cheers...
