@ Volzom - I've been eyeing up that Sonoton Library record for weeks in my local, but I keep finding other selections I want that trump it (this week: Matt Berry's 'Opium' reissue and Umiliani's 'Smog').

I know that I'll eventually delay so long that it'll disappear, but based on those tracks you've posted it's entirely my bag and I just need to get a bloody move on...

@ Macready - I have Umiliani’s ‘Smog’ in my collection. Super nice one, but not one that gets millions of spins in my little crib.

Matt Berry’s ‘Opium’ I don't know anything about, but I'm going to explore it right now after your recommendation.

I gave it 4 stars on D. It's not often I give records 4 stars. Taste is different, but I really like this LP a lot. I buy a lot of wax, this one is a winner imo.

Rather cheap too compared to the other records I brought home today from my not so local.

And there's more examples on YouTube from the LP, but I didn't want to make an exhaustingly long post with tons of links!

Of course I chosed the coolest tracks to poste here on SPIN, but the rest of the LP is cool too, and some of the tracks, Vision Receiver by Walter Rauxel is killer, but I couldn't find a YouTube link.

All in all, it's a really good record. Don't think you'll be dissapointed with the rest of it.

Vlozom, your Now Playing posts are stellar. The YouTube links are especially appreciated on some of the more obscure LPs. Also, I cannot second Macready's recommendation of Opium enough. While I celebrate the man's entire catalog, this may be the album of his I spin more than any other.

@ Volzom - depending on your taste there's a Matt Berry record for every occasion, as long as you dig the idea of a manly poet-philosopher mining for nuggets of truth from the very coalface of musical cliche.

'Opium' is like a musical invitation to a sexy party where you turn out to be the only guest; a lonely missive sent by a man intent on squeezing every ounce of pathos from his jazz-funk filled organ.. just for you.

This is the clip that truly unveiled Berry's genius to me - a joyous skank through Ronnie Hazlehurst's theme to 'Sorry':
