Was wondering if any folks on this board could help. I'm a big fan of this film and soundtrack but i've been put off by the high price tag considering there are no extra tracks.
Is the remastering really that good?
Does the gatefold warrant paying that bit extra?
I already have the cd and og lp.
Any help much appreciated,

My advice is: get a copy if you can, because the pricetag is only likely to rise on this one. I really can't imagine a fan of this score being disappointed (bearing in mind that it IS Vangelis re-imagining of the score, mixing dialogue and including music not actually featured in the film, as well as stuff which was).

Yep. Seconded. It sounds great. There are other, ahem, avenues one can travel down to get the original, complete score, but this is an awesome record. It can still be had on Amazon US for around $30USD.

Cool! Many Thanks for the advice. I think its the same music as the cd I have.
I've nearly bought it on numerous occasions, but I think your advice has just swung it. Hopefully there are copies still floating around due to the high price tag.

I remain genuinely amazed at just how much quality was squeezed onto one disc - it runs at just short of an hour and sounds amazing! Demis has never sounded better...

I finally picked up a copy of this Audio Fidelity pressing. Sounds great, but my vinyl is pretty warped. It plays alright without any skipping though. Anybody else have this issue with recent AF pressings? I had the same thing with the second LP of the Tron repress from AF, and I am not sure if I want to hassle with a return/refund or not. They sound so good that I'm worried my replacement would not sound so damn clean.

just got a copy of this, from amazon £25. cannot say how much i love it. Its just a great headphone soundtrack. some of the nicest music to sit back and relax in the late hours.

Incredible 10/10 love it.

I paid a fortune a few years ago for the TSO bootleg of this.....had to be done, I was obsessive about having the score.

As a replacement for a flawed boot, this pressing is about as good as it gets. Stunning.

So how do you all feel about the LP? As in, the fact that it's an expanded "concept album" of music and sound effects/dialogue, created by Vangelis as his definitive statement of his contribution to the film? As I say, I've had the boot to listen to and get used to the idea behind it, so know it just feels like a Vangelis LP rather than simply a soundtrack release.

Hey Ryan,

Just wondering where you are man? I recall the little (aherm) to-do here a while back and have just noted that you've been absent since then...hope you've not quit the boards for good anyway man. I always appreciate your honesty and straight-talking, in this hype-fuelled world that we share in on here, and would definitely miss your input brother. We all have outbursts, or at least those of us who are passionate about music and can't stand the BS/have to state the case sometimes.

The first bit of dialog was jarring, as I was not expecting it on the album, but the sampling is done well (and it's lower in the mix). I quickly accepted it as part of the new interpretation. I have owned the disappointing New American Orchestra LP for many years, and it's not a very good translation of Vangelis. I find this new LP to be a wondrous listen, almost instantly getting in my head and transporting me into the world of the film. I fully agree with @philball's comments that it's an incredible headphone listen as well. Very soothing, almost hypnotic, and the Audio Fidelity pressing is clean as hell. Love it.

I love the dialog on this one. Usually not a fan, but with this type of music it really creates a sci-fi space (no pun intended) in your head.

The way its mixed is perfect, just blends together unlike something like Halloween which is pretty annoying.
