UNSEEN FORCES is proud to present the complete motion picture soundtrack from Fede Alvarez's incendiary 2013 reimagining of cult horror masterpiece the EVIL DEAD. Spanish composer Roque Baños dazzles with a crisp modern orchestral score that bows reverently toward such genre classics as Jerry Goldsmith's The Omen Suite, Anton Webern and Krzysztof Penderecki's creepy string movements from The Exorcist and Joseph LoDuca's beautifully understated atmospherics for Sam Raimi's original creation that launched the grisly Kandarian franchise and revolutionized the contemporary horror film with its startling velocity. Anxious purists need not fret. Baños studied music at the Upper Music Conservatory of Murcia and Madrid's Real Conservatorio Superior before graduating from Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music, but with EVIL DEAD he steps beyond the jazz influences evidenced in his previous scores. Here the maestro eloquently assumes the role of firestarter, conducting like a pyromaniac invoking the destructive majesty of flame – both demonic and cleansing – with smoldering strings and brass building toward total aural incineration. To that end, he cleverly employs a prominent siren motif that at turns suggests a dreadful fire alarm in slow motion, the nostalgia of an amusement park haunted house attraction and a prodigious yawning door somewhere in the deepest chasm of hell. A thoroughly cinematic experience suffused with sweeping overtures and jarring choral crescendos, Baños has created a dark and vital epic for the ages. DLP pressed to 140gram gore splattered vinyl – with a locked groove for extended terror! – and entombed in a lavish gatefold cover, this gorgeous collection carves through the glut of overblown soundtrack reissues of late like a trusty chainsaw. It is, in a word..."Groovy!"

I didn't think to mention it but I'm only an associate of one of the gentlemen that runs the label so I'm no way involved with the release other than helping out with some promotion.

I saw the post and ordered immediately yesterday. I received the confirmation email with the following message : "Thanks! You are our very first order for this release! Updates when we have them."

I don't even remember the score from this film... But I ordered it anyways! Ha. Based on that youtube clip that was posted, sounds like some pretty good stuff.

I emailed Unseen Forces and they said that there will be a uk distributor announced in the next couple of days. Which is nice.

I've been waiting for a vinyl release of this amazing soundtrack for ages now. Top nice!

Uhm...really curious about colour differences between US release and European distribution...both seems "splatter vinyl", anyway secured both versions!

Just secured my copy. Like everything else being released this fall, it's going to be hard to wait for it to arrive! Late october/early november is going to be awesome for stuff being delivered

It would be nice to know the differences, but I think I'm just going to go with the US version. It says "gore splattered" vinyl in the description on Unseen Forces site. The DW one is translucent green and brown splatter, but I can't justify the $60 price tag to ship it to someone in the UK and then ship it here to the US.

Now LITA is taking pre-orders as well. They use Unseen Forces description of gore splattered vinyl but then write "US versions pressed on transparent red & transparent green wax (randomly packed)"

So if we order direct from the label, is it only gore splattered? And does anyone know what is meant by "gore splattered" color wise?

My guess is it will look like the first press of Zombi 2

'Gore splattered', I'm assuming, will be something like red splattered on black. I have a few metal LPs that are like that. Or one color swirled into another...

I got a reply back from Unseen Forces about the different versions:

"The demand for the record exceeded our expectations and Death Waltz and Light in the Attic both wanted to handle sales, so they've been granted their own colorations. The Unseen Forces version is still unique and the one originally planned- and the one that is still going to look the best."

So it looks like the splatter version from Death Waltz IS different than the one direct from UF, which seems to be the definitive version to get.

My email response was identical. What is interesting is that they say both DW and LITA have their own variants, but they sound eerily similar. DW has clear great and brown and LITA has clear green and red. It does sound like the UF is the most interesting one at the moment.

To add to the confusion, my understanding is there are two Death Waltz versions:

Uhm...I think that the right description is the first one (clear green and clear brown) the other link, which is still active, was the subscribers link with wrong description. I am pretty sure that Death Waltz have only 500 copies in one colorway to distribute in EU.

Uhm.. uhm... I got this email but I thought it was a bit strange another colorway only for the subscribers, also because it is an extra sub release... I'm confused. How many versions of this LP are there?

There is the gore splattered version direct from Unseen Forces in the US that is available worldwide....AND then there is another version in UK via Death Waltz via a hidden subscribers link only http://deathwaltzrecordingcompany.com/s ... dead-2013/ This version says "exclusive colourway for us to sell in the UK and Europe. Ltd to just 500 copies worldwide. This is strictly two per person and only available to people in the UK & EUROPE translucent green and brown splatter vinyl".

That also says "exclusive colourway for DW to sell in the UK & Europe. Only available for sale in the UK & Europe One clear green record and one clear brown record".
