This is one of those 'how long is a piece of string' type questions, with any answer coming with the bias of whoever is giving it.

That said, purely because of the role the films and soundtracks have played in my own life, and enjoyment derived from, at this exact moment I'd go for:

1. Evil Dead (original)
2. Withnail and I
3. Videodrome
4. Betty Blue
5. Stoker or Moon by Clint Mansell

Does seem to be fast becoming a modern classic among critics.... was lucky enough to attend a live performance of the score last summer. Initially underwhelmed by what sounded drone-like and atonal (albeit disquietingly apt with the visuals)... but caved and bought it recently on the cheap via Milan. Listened to in isolation, however, tracks like 'Love' sound up there with Vangelis.

@spun - I agree that it is quickly becoming a classic. It is brilliant, beautiful, alien, familiar...it's just incredible. And the listening experience on vinyl is just great.

Its funny really. I've just open a prized bottle of whisky (highland park 25 if your interested) poured it and sat and looked through the records for something that would accompany the perfect relaxing moment i was about to embark on.

I chose Eno - Apollo (Atmospheres and Soundtracks) which is the music that accompanied the breathtaking For all Mankind.

As I sat there enjoying, I couldn't help thinking if this isn't an essential album, I don't know what is.

So as soon as I was done, I wrote this!
