Holy moley...this is stunning. Over-size card stock sleeve, "midnight" blue wax, and the sound is crystal clear.
And that art! Graham Humphreys is in my top 5 current LP designers who consistently wow me, along with Brandon Schaeffer and Jay Shaw.
I almost dropped £90 on an original of this before Xmas....so glad I didn't!
I have a big soft spot for this movie - although I'm really not sure if I've actually seen it! The film (and score) reek of late 70s/early 80s horror, and I remember there was a feature on Russo/Midnight in one of the very first Fangoria mags that I ever got, I musta been around 12/13. Something about that article and the stills really haunted me....Night of the Living Dead was already a huge thing for me, and I was fascinated by the fact that the two guys from that went off in different directions....I say I'm not sure if I've seen the movie because at some point I know that I read Russo's novelisation of Midnight, which might be making me think that I did.

I have a shipping notification from this week, so I guess I'll receive it in Canada next week. It's definitely a super good looking cover art. I know nothing of the movie, and only heard the samples from the soundcloud page so it's going to be an almost complete discovery once it arrives in the mail.

OWS said my copy recently shipped! I haven't seen it arrive just yet though, halfway across the world. Looks great, @disco.

^ Really really nice.....like I say, I came very close to biting the bullet on that last month. Just seeing the original art gives me a kinda goosebump feeling, remembering how it had really affected my imagination as a young 'un.....I should watch the damn film after all these years!

I found a oop dvd copy recently, the cover artwork is so terrible!!!!
I also have a vhs reissue that I got at cinema wasteland last year, signed by John Amplas.

@monster - btw, do you have any intel regarding any future release by your spiffy label? Was just pondering this the other day.....

From what I can make out (I don't have the original to compare, only the tracklist) it features some original LP tracks plus some that have added sound effects/vocals, and some all new tracks using the master tapes as the basis? (including the opening 2014 suite...)

It all hangs together, whatever they've done - be interesting to hear a proper comparison by someone with the original?

In short - looks like I'm right back to wanting the original release again!

As you can prob tell....I'm a bit annoyed with myself for passing this up, but at least the timely new version helps with the pain!

Yeah...grab this stuff without hesitation..worry about the debt later lol. The new wave is eating all of the oldies up fast.

The original is definitely one of the coolest artwork covers ever! I have not received the new one yet, but I agree with you on Graham Humphreys...one of my favorites! Such badass work on these covers..has the old time magic!

I see they used my guy at Tree Lady studios to do the transfer, he did my witchboard mastering.

Now I got to buy the reissue too. Urggh.
