His score to Coppola's Dracula was the first soundtrack score I ever bought, and his score to The Ninth Gate is one of my all time favorites. I need to get into some of his other works, but those two releases are must haves in my opinion.

Hi Dumaisaudio -
I agree about the 9th Gate. Great soundtrack. The movie has a few flaws, but it also produces some real gems; I like the subtle clues in the movie such as the white feather in the roadway.
I haven't listened to Coppola's Dracula score in years. Thanks for bringing it back to my attention.
RIP Mr. Kilar.

Dracula pretty much solidified my love for soundtracks.
RIP Mr Kilar.

I loved this man's music. After Dracula, I found a tape in the local library which was a compilation of his work for the films of Wajda. I duped it, and almost played the cassette to bits over the years - it's amongst the best score music I've ever heard (and fortunately it's now safely digitised on my computer). I can also add to the love for The Ninth Gate, a brilliant dark masterpiece.
RIP Mr Kilar

Hey discosucks, what was that comp called? I'd live to get a hold of it.

dumaisaudio, I've just checked it out and it's this one:

I must have misremembered copying it from a cassette, as it appears to be a CD release only - which actually makes more sense anyway. And it doesn't state specifically that it's Wajda scores, but I know that quite a few of the tracks are from his films. There's a couple of the standout Dracula pieces on it at the end too.
Doesn't appear to be a particularly easy disc to locate, so good luck! It really is a fantastic collection, however, so well worth the effort to track down. I'd be more than happy to share with yourself/any others who are interested, just drop me a line

Is Ninth Gate on vinyl? Or just a CD release? I love that film!

Sadly, no vinyl release for The Ninth Gate. There is just a standard CD release, then a bootleg CD from 2012 with a bunch of cues, but I'm guessing they just pulled it from the movie. I would love a vinyl release of this score.
