Hi, i think this might be a useful thread in terms of asking each other what the value of certain hard-to-find records is. discogs is not always a help, as there's maybe a couple of copies for sale, but what if it's never been sold?
so,
i wanna start this topic with a record i found at a local store today.
It looks like quite a rare and unofficial release to me, and was recorded in 1982, whereas "mad max III" came out in 1985.
is this even a soundtrack, and if yes, how much would you pay for this (in vg condition)?

Looks like a boot that has literally nothing to do with any Mad Max film.

Most definitely a Motorhead bootleg LP.
Popsike is a great site that shows auction results for harder to find LP's.
You can find the auction results for "Mad Max 3" HERE
A couple of things about popsike - you can see how prices fluctuate - sometimes you'll see an LP that used to catch $100 every time it was listed in the early 2000's, but only sells for $40 now - and vice-versa. It is an awesome asset though. I used to manage an independent retail record store, and there were times that popsike was an invaluable tool. Another cool thing - especially when there are several listings archived of a rare LP - is that you can get some more information on records that you can't seem to find anything about elsewhere. Just scrolling through the "Mad Max 3" list - someone has it listed as a show from Paris in 1982. A little more research into each listing might yield more information.

oh, my bad.. but i searched a quite a few last night, and had no problems.
this is what their faq's say:
As a member, you can perform more queries than an unregistered user - but the number of daily queries is still limited and depends on server load.

The only proviso with Popsike is that it only recognises and stores a sale when a record goes for more than $25. So that record might well have sold 100 times for less, and you won’t know. I tend to second source a value if there are only a few (3 or less) on Popsike, just in case they are the exceptions. Obviously if there are a lot of sales of a particular release you are on safer ground.
