@reelybored & @ninjaqutie - You guys are shopping at the expensive online shops! Try out Experimedia, Forced Exposure, and of course Amazon. Sometimes store like 20 Buck Spin (mostly metal), Aquarius Records (lots of great records from all over the spectrum!), and Vacation Vinyl (metal and rock) will have soundtracks.

+1 for Experimedia. A great shop that'll be missed when it closes later this year. You US folks should be using it while you still can!

@Re-animated - It is!? When was that announced? I've not seen or heard anything about that happening! That is extremely disappointing...especially now that I'm moving to Jacksonville, FL where they have NO good record shops that stock the kinds of records I enjoy. I was about to start relying much more heavily on Experimedia & Forced Exposure.

@Ghostfires: I'm afraid it's true, dude. It's a shame because Jeremy is clearly a passionate guy - besides stocking loads of interesting stuff, he's actually released some awesome records too. He announced the closure in one of the Experimedia mailouts a few months back. Here it is:

2014: THE FINAL YEAR

After much thought over the course of the past year I have decided that 2014 will be the last year of Experimedia. I am very proud of what I have built with the big 14 year experiment that has been Experimedia and thank you all for being a part of it but after an increasingly challenging year both financially and existentially I have decided it is time to transition into the next chapter of my all too short life. I do this with no regrets and no bitterness… strictly gratitude for the opportunity and experience. I’ve simply taken this as far as I can.

During the year ahead I will continue to operate the shop and work towards making a graceful exit, rather than continue to chase my tail until things reach total critical mass.

It has become impossible for me to micro manage all the details that are necessary to keep this running and I feel myself slowly but surely becoming less reliable when it comes to certain administrative aspects. I don’t want to be that guy when this is all said and done. I will of course continue to be involved in the music community as an artist and perhaps even still as a label on but on more modest levels. And perhaps I may be able to offer my services, skills and experiences to other shops and labels. I’ve had my day at this and feel it’s time to step aside and make a little extra room for others to step up and enjoy the experiences I have had the privilege of.

The truth is I miss the days when things were simple and did not bring the consistently increasing weight of more obligations than one person can possibly carry. I look forward to again being in a position where I can separate my passion for art and community from commerce and industry.

I hope for your continued support over the course of the year ahead so I can make this transition and tend to my obligations with honor and dignity… and you can continue to count on the excellent level of service you have come to know me for until the day the “doors” officially close. And you can surely count on some great sales during this time.

I will certainly have more to say on this over the course of the year ahead but for now duty calls.

Best wishes always,
Jeremy Bible

Oldies has some nice prices as well, though they are limited. I figured amazon was a given, especially if you have a prime membership. I used popmusic once, but won't use them again most likely. They have great flash sales, but it took them over 4 months to get my white stripes records mailed to me and I had to harass them every few weeks. I was more than pissed. The only good thing about it was that the guy waived the price of the five LP's in the end (because I told them I was going to rip them a new one, cancel my order and post on the internet, everywhere I could, my story so people would be aware of their company before they order). They don't even have a phone number to call. Just facebook and e-mail. GAH! Also, soundstage and insound are quite reasonable if you wait for their sales. I'll look into those other sites- thanks!

I'm lucky enough to have Rough Trade and Honest Jons close enough for a lunchtime jaunt and Sister Ray/Soul Jazz are on my way home - I also go to Banquet in Kingston. Online it's Boomkat/Norman/Amazon/eBay but I also try to buy from bands/labels directly if I can.

Needless to say, a good charity shop rummage is always on the cards!!

Ever down south go here (Brighton U.K.) pop in and say Hi to George an old chap who is literally 95 years old, he knows just about anything on Soundtracks and loves to have a good chatter if you know your stuff!
He doesn't like modern stuff - like the internet much and detests ebay :)
Unfortunately, I don't think he sells online but contact him here - he has loads of stuff. http://www.therecordalbum.com/

I pass this shop at least 3 times a week and he changes the window display weekly (tempting me in with his lovelies) I absolutely LOVE/HATE this shop because there is always ALWAYS a pile of stuff I want. So I only actually go in about 4 times a year. :(

Also I just search everywhere on the internet for album titles and composers I like, CDandLP.com not bad sometimes even ebay, but I feel that ebay is a thing of the past for decent prices now. This forum is the best place for everyone giving each other a heads up :)

@4000 Sure looks like Darkman to me, I'll pop in and get a price if you want, maybe you can order it from the shop direct, if not we can sort something out, probably get the chance to go in tomorrow !

Only online...because I live in the little town in Burgundy, and the first & only record shop is at 70 kilometers. So i'm a slave of the net.

Thats a shame. I've had some great ambient & drone stuff shipped to the UK on a fairly regular basis from there, not least his own label.

Moonunit
Norman
Boomkat
Honest Jons
Anost
Experimedia
Bleep
Piccadilly
Juno
System
Intoxica
Dusty Groove
Amoeba
and the bigger chains mentioned. Mainly online too but I'm hopeful the resurgence sees a vinyl emporium open near me soon! :)

Thanks Disco! I also have a reasonable folder of vinyl bunker bookmarks collected over the years. Might see can I zip it and upload it after work rather than posting endless links.
Or maybe it might be better of we had one curated list we could all add to? Always good to know about those obscure Japanese/ Russian/ Indian etc etc record shops as well as on our own patches. I found Gladiator OST sealed & cheap on some tiny Canadian store through endless web digging. What do people think?

I think it's a fantastic idea bud -- although other soundtrack "virtual-crate diggers" might wince at the thought of more competition for those coveted grails ;)

I buy straight from the lable at deathwaltz and Invada. If its a real shop then there is really only the music exchange locally to me, and if its anything else and not from amazon I use Honest Jons, Boomkat or Juno
