Which of these shipping methods do u think is the most solid when using standard foldover mailers.

Order a) record, cardboard filler, cardboard filler (double down)
Order b) cardboard filler, record, cardboard filler (record sandwich)

Open to other suggestions to keep records damage free, without having to resort to bespoke mailers, custom edge covers etc.

Bubble wrap is also an option,

Or other suggestions?

Order b) as it protects both sides better and tape the hell out of the box.

Bubblewrap is good to stop the record moving around if necessary.

Anyone order from Dusty Groove? They use GREAT mailers.

Chad - if you're not familiar with the mailer I'm talking about, I can email you a picture. That would be much more effective than trying to describe.

I think mailers with corner protection like a Whiplash-style mailer do best. When people buy more expensive LPs I try to ship using those nicer mailers with a cardboard insert on bottom and a piece of bubble wrap on top.

For mid-price LPs I'll use "frustration free" type mailers like Amazon and Mondo use since they are wider than a standard square mailer.

For everyday stuff I use the square LP mailers with cardboard inserts or bubble wrap.

International is a battle since better packaging means more weight and higher postage rates. But USPS Media Mail for domestic weight doesn't add much to the postage.

@texasvinyl Where can I purchase a frustration free mailer or the thicker version that Mondo and WW used for Chopping Mall?

I'd say B.

Norman records always send out the records boxed in cardboard which then goes into another cardboard outer. I've never had a damaged record from them.

Not sure. I just reuse the mailers that I get in the mail

Thanks for the suggestions.

I am committed to using one of these for now, since I already spent a lot on the supplies.

It's hard to do custom boxes with low minimum, and I just don't have the space or money or time to invest in those right now.

I am going with sandwich style, since the filler pads are the same size as the mailer it works out.

When the stack hits the ceiling from my table, its time to bring downstairs to the bin. Luckily I bought my place from a retired DJ who had 5 full expedits (5x5s) of records in the living room alone, so I think the neighbors are used to it.

@Volzom Looking great...Reminds me of the attic before our last move:)
Those 'Fragile'-taped packages have to be from Boomkat, right?
