I'm gonna throw in the soundtrack to "The Cremator" released by Finders Keepers records. I honestly think it's one of the greatest soundtracks I've heard; it's beautiful. It appears to be available only on vinyl too, which is sort of unfortunate because that makes it harder to recommend to friends! Heh.

I ordered the Morgiana/Cremator CD yesterday - Finders Keepers have their Christmas sale on.

Recently I've been liking the Daniel Avery and Holden albums - both top notch electronica!

Stumbled upon this experimental krautrock beauty yesterday. This 5 track mini album should allow the "average" runner to complete a 5km circuit... or 500 meters for me!

i tried to embed the player to no avail whatsoever. i apologise.

that's a great LP Chuck, I missed out on it but I e-mailed them and they had a box full left but all with slightly damaged sleeves. Pleased I did.

seen a lot of talk of Hardware and Valhalla Rising on here and was thinking about purchasing them through LITA. Any preference of the 2? Im on a tight budget due to school loans and baby, so only can get one.

They're very different, Darrell. Not sure i could actually pick between the two. Valhalla if you forced my hand? I'd look up some clips on soundcloud or the LITA site. VR is very noise/ambient forward. Meditative. Hardware is all over the place, but it has more of a guitar/keyboard vibe. I'm doing a terrible job. Apologies. Just put them in your ears.

Frigging Ben. I love it.

@Darrell - Let us know what you choose? I'm always interested in other folks' selection processes and criteria.

If you like Dark ambient/Drone then I would recommend anything by Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement, especially their 12" Black Magic Cannot Cross Water.

This is not soundtrack related, but if you want to get into some older 70/80's music (rock if I had to classify them), you could look into the waterboys and crack the sky. The Waterboys are fairly mainstream and those living on the other side of the pond in the UK, Ireland and Scotland may already be familiar with them, especially if you are a tad older. I think they are pretty great myself and they are AMAZING live. Crack the Sky on the other hand, is sort of a microfamous band that is fairly local to the Baltimore region in Maryland. They really could have made it big, but due to political games and their shitty manager and their own moral agendas, they just never really hit it big, but they did open for big names such as: Styx, Supertramp, Rush, Foreigner, Electric Light Orchestra, Yes, ZZ Top, Kansas, Frank Zappa, and Boston. You can pick up both of these bands records for $5 or less fairly easily. I will attach a link to a couple youtube videos in a bit to each of their better songs, but I can't do that right now since I am on my work computer and they have that site blocked, but give me a bit and I'll do it on my phone. :D Oh and to those who follow me on instagram I have some clips of the waterboys on there from a concert.

@Ninjaqutie - Waterboys started out as indi-rock and morphed into a folk band, and damn good they are too! Check out Bellowhead for similar.
Agree Doc, Tunng are great, as are the Owl Service in that vein. Check the Cine EP by them for folky soundtrack cover goodness.

I'll do that! I stumbled upon them by chance. My uncle had two front row tickets to a concert up near NYC and couldn't go any more, so he offered them to me and my husband. Never turning down a chance to see live music, I took them! I was amazed. Definitely one of the best live shows I've seen to date! The only thing that slightly pissed me off was that one of the roadies wouldn't give me a damn guitar pick. LOL. I got a set list though. :D

Back in the day I used to manage an o'niells bar and some members of the waterboys did a small set for us. I think some of them are Irish plus they call themselves Celtic so it was okay.

Wasn't a fan of their music but they did a song called the stolen child which was absolutely amazing. Definitely check it out!

A plus one for the Holden & Avery albums. I'd also recommend the Jon Hopkins album too, two of the blackest pieces of vinyl I've ever seen. Fantastic album and a great pressing.

I'd also recommend Kolsch's 1977, more slightly early/mid 90s house-ish vibe but still pretty good. If you like retro, then Manix' album living in the past is essential.

Special Request's Soul Music was one of the best releases in recent years. If you get the CD, you get a second CD's worth of remixes, which are also great.

The reimagining of Field in England was great and it reminded me of This Will Destroy You and to a lesser extent, Explosions in the Sky so I dug my albums out.

He's always had a fixation with Yeats that lad. There's worse things I suppose!

@Mateo in 2009 after grabbing reissues of a couple of Klaus Schulze's solo records I found out he appeared on a few other artists records. I listened to samples of Transfer Station Blue online and loved it. I've tried to find a reasonably priced copy of the album for years on vinyl but I haven't been able to yet.

Fast forward a number of years and I saw this cassette in a thrift store for $0.65 so I grabbed it walked to the electronics section and picked up a Denon DRS-610 tape deck for $12 :) Double score! Still searched for a copy on vinyl though.

If you're into that album you will probably also love this

and Michael Shrieve also did the score for The Bedroom Window which is pretty good as well.

My local community radio station played some John Zorn last night and I really dug it. He's got quite the discography, so any recommendations on where to start?
