Hello I am selling my prized Akira Kurosawa vinyl set, as well as the DW for splatter, and the Goblin sub edition.
I am really bad at prices, so what I have done is price them at slightly / significantly lower than I can find them elsewhere online. If you think the prices are way off, feel free to let me know!

AKIRA KUWOSAWA BOXSET (4 LP) - £150 (the only other copy I found online was £300, so this seemed reasonable. Let me know if you think its taking the piss!)

DW THE FOG (blue/green splatter) - £50 (again, the only other copy I found online was going for £130, so this seemed pretty good, given the trouble i went through to get the thing in the first place!)

GOBLIN (sub edition) - £10 (not really sure what its worth, but thats less than I paid for it, and its like new).

I've got pictures of the above and also got a few more non-soundtrack things up on ebay, let me know if you want anything / think the prices are awful / etc -

OMFG, I'm SO interested in the Akira box set! I don't think I have that much money right now though. :( I do however, think that is more than a reasonable price though. ::sigh:: Wow, some of my favorite movies are in that set. Damn it! I'll see what I can do, but it will take me a bit of time to come up with the money with the crappy exchange rate on my end.

Excellent, glad the price seems ok. Its a great set, and I am very sad to be selling it, but needs must! I have no idea how quickly it will move, so if you do decide you want it at some point it might be worth sticking a note on here in case its still around.

Sorry to break it to you buddy, but I don't think that Kurosawa set is worth anywhere near £150. The median price on Discogs is £36.00 and up to about a month ago it was still on Amazon for about the same price. Of course it looks like it's sold out now, so who knows. Wish I hadn't dithered so long and bought it - looks ace!

£36! Thats far less than it cost me new! (I think it was about £50-60 just after it came out).
Anyone else have any thoughts between these two differing opinions? Maybe I should drop the price to £100 - would that seem more reasonable? Thanks for the input!

The bottom line is it's worth what someone will pay for it.

The thing that a lot of sellers do (like here) is look at what some clowns are asking for something and assume that is a reasonable price even though it will never sell for that. The one on sale for 300 quid is not a useful data point as it won't sell for that.

The sales history on discogs and ebay is more useful although in this case it is likely that most of those were for a new copy and the price for used ones may still be lower than that or it may have gone up if people still want it and demand now exceeds supply with all the new copies gone.

So if you really want to sell it on ebay set a lower start price for the auction and where it ends up is what it's worth. Or stick it at a fixed price and lower it every week until it sells.

I personally wouldn't go above about 80 bucks.

Cheers Lazyben, good points.
Maybe i'll leave at the price it is until the ebay listing runs down, then keep reducing it till someone picks it up. I don't think I'd want to let it go for less than about £60-£70, as that works out at about £15 or so per vinyl, which sound pretty reasonable for an out of print vinyl as part of a set. But we'll see what happens!

And that's fair enough, see if you can get what you want and hang on to it if you don't.

There are some people (the aforementioned clowns) who like listing things at crazy prices in the hope that at some point they're the only seller and will get lucky with a uninformed/desparate buyer.

The more of something there are in the market the more there is an actual "value", when there is one here and there the price will vary a bit as the market is imperfect. If you hang on long enough and yours is in excellent condition you might get the top price anyone would be willing to pay but there really is no way of knowing how much that is or when it might happen.

@OP, I'd be interested in that Kurosawa boxset for ~£100. I think £150 is a little steep, as others have said.

Yep fine. Its on ebay at the moment for 150, but its highly unlikely anyone will go for it, so assuming it doesn't sell, I'll not re-advertise it anywhere till I hear from you mon/tues.
thanks

He's emailed me today, I was starting to get twitchy as I placed the order nearly a month ago. The Hitch set is gone now, grrr.

It looks like that Kurosawa set is still in stock so dive in!

It doesn't look like they ship to the US. When I went to make an account it asked me what country I I'm in and the US isn't an option. why is life so hard...

If anybody can order this for me and ship it to me I would be eternally grateful. I would also pay you for the service.

send me an email if you can help alexkennylz@yahoo.com

It appears they will only ship to Europe...
