that De Wolfe looks very interesting. especially because Bright Spark seems to be a pseudonym of the great Alan Parker. will check that one out. my kids would love the cover art, haha!

Yeah Mateo, it really has. Like my all time favorite of library, It has that kooky De Wolfe music vibe also, on a handful of tracks. B side is great but some rock stompers is kinda meh but it's still a good LP.

Picked a copy of this up on the cheap recently. I have so many questions... Why is it called Gimmick... What's up with the random cover photo. What exactly would this music be used in...why is there a track called "Sunset in Georgia" that starts out sounding like music for a mafia Don's funeral and ends sounding like a Jewish wedding party, and did Marchetti ever go to Georgia?? Stylistically it's just all over the place, from a late 70s jazz funk to Italian folk to easy listening, a couple of distinctly Spanish sounding tracks, an instrumental pop song with a heavy Beatles influence, an I Cantori vocal over a military snare and playful flute lines, an old timey swing jazz track. Like none of it on its own is particularly odd, but it's kind of a bizarre collection of styles on one record..

It's not worth spending any serious dough on, but it's intriguing

not much time for spinning in the new year but i was listening to some classic Alessandroni lately. apparently these seem to be from the same session? the one on Usignolo is really underrated in my opinion. fantastic record!

by the way, did anyone grab that unreleased Alessandroni stuff on Four Flies, yet? need to hear that one...

I don't know about underrated, I got Inchiesta pretty cheap but the usignolo I can't even find! And expensive. It's a good record though for sure, at least there is a reissue. Haven't seen the four flies yet. Not sure whether that one is available yet.

i have sold many of those reissues (like the Alessandroni one) lately. got many of them as back-up copies but i have realized that most of them do not satisfy me at all. i am not super picky but some of those Sonor reissues are very poor for my taste...

Yes I agree, BUT the biggest thing that puts me off with Sonor is that they sometimes (or always) boost audio levels. I first noticed when he put the Freedom power LP with the thing "Comes on 180gr. vinyl with improved sound quality. Pressed on 500 copies." Ahh man, why... and the recent LP IL MARE, a godly good record almost and he also boosted the sound levels on it, such a shame. I heard this on the JT podcast. JT refered to Il Mare that the soundwave of a track is like a big block, mastering is a bit hot, or something like that. It's like putting extra salt on your already salty potato chips.

The record presses are good though it seems, sound quality is good mostly. Aaaand some records I have to just buy from him as they are so good.

@Steve: exactly!! that was my thought. apart from these ridiculous descriptions (funk bomb, killer breakbeat, b-boy breaks,...) they use for their records, it seems like they try to make them sound like that sometimes. describtions like these make me almost cry. this is not what these great composers intended. these records were not made for the dancefloor...

another record that was definetely NOT made for the dancefloor is this one. really don't know anything about the composer Alberico Vitalini but for 1969 these recordings must have been visionary. this came years before Raskovich's sonic experiments but it kind of sounds like the fifth volume of the tough Informale series. it is one of those heavy micro pressings with folded cover like the first Omicronreleases.

could not find out much about the record despite a entry in the Boyes Of Toys blog where you can listen to a sound sample. the guy who is running this blog says: from my own personal Holy Grail list and one of the best electronic records ever (IMHO)

maybe a little exaggerated but still, the record is really fascinating. love the cover art and the font.
