Rosemary's Baby is a revelation!
I've always loved the original DOT/Paramount LP, and somehow never picked up that it was a session recording for the soundtrack release rather than the original score.....Waxworks new version is setting me straight!!
Just taking the theme for example: it's pretty much the same arrangement and vocal take in both, but the orchestration is very different. The film version is darker, creepier...the DOT version in comparison now almost seems to have an "Odd Couple" lightness to it (Harmonica!! Vibraslap!!) I still really like it mind you....it's just a very different beast in comparison...you can almost hear a "TV" feel to it, I'll bet dollars to donuts that Paramount had a team of sessioners for the recording from their regular television stable, or somesuch. Be great to find more info about the two different recordings/players.
It's certainly gonna be fascinating comparing the two versions in more depth so huge thanks to WW for making this release happen. It's incredible.
No better time to show off my Polanski/Komeda wax:

Wild to think that three of these bombs have dropped in the last 12 months!
(The white label at bottom right is a promo copy of Harkit's "Cul-de-Sac" btw...now somebody needs to revisit/release that amazing score!)
