You know I need those freaky ass reverb-drenched electronic cues!Yeah man, I finally picked up an OG over the summer for not too bad a price (same place I found the TCM boot) but I’m stoked for this expanded set.

NathanLurker wrote:@Mateo : I'm confused. which Elfman are you talking about ? the 'Burbs is from jerry Goldsmith, Drag me to Hell is from Christopher Young.Ha! The brain fog must be lingering, Nathaniel. I was conflating the Burbs release with the forthcoming(?) Beetlejuice offering.
havershaw wrote:I had the OG as a teen, and I had Romero sign it for me at a lecture he gave at some college (I had to take a subway and two buses to get to it!).Yep.
But it sadly disappeared over the years. It’s weird; I do have about half of the records I had as a kid, including lots of OG Varese, but I have no idea what happened to certain ones (OG Evil Dead, a signed Creepshow, all the NOES, etc).

I recommend not thinking too much about it.
havershaw wrote:I asked Waxwork if I bought this retail version, if they’d combine shipping with the sub version, and they said subs will ship separately (and they didn’t say when that would be).I want to buy more of your product? Can you ship together?
inksb wrote: No fuck you. I already have your money, I want more of it to maximize my profit. You must pay additional shipping.I mean, they did say “happy shopping!” after that, lol
inksb wrote:Yeah, Waxwork records are mostly a buy on sale thing for me. Once we cross that $40 threshold plus $5-$8 shipping I'm usually out.It certainly isn't an issue unique to WW. In fact, far from it. But a $50 record, give or take, is a tough pill to swallow. Too tough if I'm honest. I can afford it, but I won't.
inksb wrote:Agreed @Mateo. Obviously we all buy these things or some of them. It's just when it feels like almost every release is creeping up in price I find myself stepping back and seeing what else is coming or where I can spend my money more efficiently. I'm not well off, I work a job that pays my bills, doesn't make me hate life and allows me to work M-F 8-5 roughly. I try to budget my record buying, it's one of my few excessive money pits. I honestly can't afford to buy 3-4 $40+ records a month on top of the used records & tapes I'm picking up as well. I bought TMNT no matter the price, I would have paid more than I did, I do think it was way too much but I'm a Turtle fanatic so I had to own it. I love NotLD but at $48 it's an easy pass, if it was $35 shipped, I would have bought it. My point is that we all find value in what we collect but some things hold more value for others and what you think is worth spending your money on. So ignore my bitching about price :)First: I do not mind the talk about pricing. These records do cost an arm and leg sometimes.
ScoJo wrote:I could talk up 'rising production costs', 'licensing fees', etc, but if I'm really blunt do you know why I think these records are costing so much these days?@SCoJo
Because people are buying them.
What's a bunch of moaners on IG/FB when the reality is that those same whiners are...still....BUYING THE RECORDS.
Sorry folks, but it's that simple. If these labels were left with huge stocks of unsold stock gathering dust on their shelves, I bet you dollars to donuts the prices would come down.
It's all fair enough- success with their releases means labels have more in the coffers to chase bigger licenses/deals/involve more creatives, and we all dig that. I don't think it's that mysterious really.
Overseas shipping/customs... that's another beast all together, and will never not be a giant sting in the butt I fear.
I almost exclusively wait for retail versions of WW/Mondo which I want these days, since I clocked that there is ALWAYS a retail option (though they continue to keep that to themselves for the most part- again, no brainer: they want peeps to buy direct from their own stores!). It ultimately saves me a bundle, and quite often I've preferred the version which goes to retail anyway.
Having said that- I ordered the WW NotLD in half a second, without thinking. Don't ask me why, I just 'Pavlov Dogged' that motherfucker as soon as I saw it, must be because I was possessed by the spirit of Halloween! ;D
havershaw wrote: I’m still bummed I didn’t get the “standard” issue DOTD cause I don’t totally love the sub colors, and now the regular one is crazy money. Are you talking about Dawn of the Dead? You can sell your sub copy for at least $100 and if you wait a bit you are surely able to get a copy of the other version for less than that.
