I think the issue with the exorcist was more the schifrin score being pulled last minute, but it seems that may have been freidkins doing so maybe that was some give and take for the other collabs they are doing with him.

Hey gents, just wondrin'...

As Waxwork have posted again about represses (Starry Eyes? Others?), is Dawn of the Dead the only release they've done that didn't get a retail release? I want it for sure, but missed it first time and wimped out over Customs fear the second time. If its pressed a third time, you think some might make it to retail?

The cover does look like a 3LP foldout cover, but Waxwork did say a while back (when teasing a lot of releases) it would be a 4LP release.
So let's say $60 plus $30 international shipping :-)

I'm assuming it's the Tangerine Dream-ish stuff and not the marching band stuff. I remember liking it a lot during the first season, though I never watched the second.

I would never describe Vice Principals as a cross between John Carpenter and John Hughes. It has none of Hughes 80's high school charm and no idea where they are coming up with JC unless the score has some synth to it but even then that description seemed directed more at the content and not the music.

With that said Vice Principals is a great show, it's from the director/creator of East Bound & Down, Observe & Report and The Foot Fist Way. Danny McBride stars and writes, he is great as usual (if you like his brand of comedy) and stars the always entertaining Walton Goggins in a role very different than anything I've seen him in. It's fairly dark comedy, goes down some twisted paths just like all of Jody Hill's previous work. I believe David Gordon Green directs a handful of episodes as well just like on East Bound & Down, he's good friends with Danny and Jody. Overall I recommend it as a show. I'm going to have to revisit the score, I highly doubt I'd drop $40 on this set. Seems like a strange choice from them but I appreciate the left field release.

Got it this week. I spun it once, I like it. I saw a review online saying that musically, it's a cross between Friday the 13th and Shining, and that seems like a good way to describe it. it's kind of like the approach of minimal atmospheric synth from Shock Waves, but done with F13 strings.

I really enjoyed Einhorn's Shock Waves score, but the samples Waxwork put up of The Prowler left me a bit flat.

I’m loving the Prowler score (a movie I’ve known about since I was a kid but could never find it to watch it).

Nice pressing and a really good mastering job.

I only caught it a week or so ago on Shudder. Never had seen it either so had to do a little research before committing to buying it.....I enjoyed it on both ends, still haven't pulled the trigger yet for the vinyl....

The Prowler is so nostalgic for me. When I was a young kid my family would vacation once a year down to cape may new jersey where most of The Prowler was shot. So many of those buildings in the film I would walk past especially the old colonial (I think it was called) where the opening dance scene was shot. Love to get the soundtrack but that darn color mix nonsense will not leave us.

I look forward to this one hitting retail. (Big fan of Einhorn's scoring, his old-school suspense music in the classy Dead of Winter is super memorable. Similar feel to Chris Young's awesome Jennifer 8 score.)

Gave this a spin yesterday, it’s great.

Going on the similarities with this and MBV, here’s another one. The packaging design on the waxwork releases, both by Goulish Gary, and he did them VERY similarly. There’s something about these that just demand to be a double feature.

So I’m case anyone was wondering, that’s what I’ll be doing Valentine’s Day. Feel free to send chocolates my way.

I'm sure to have mentioned this before so my apologies for the repetition, but Mrs Sanboval and I watch MBV together every February on, or near, the 14th. I am taking a cue from you good lads and going to try to push this double feature through.

Waxworks just posted a photo of their 3LP Cruising release coming this Friday. I want this. I can't afford it right now, I really hope it's not super limited and disappears like Dawn of the Dead.

It also includes the Germs tracks that so many people have hoped would be included.
