Picked this up for $5 over the weekend. Soundtrack to a Harmony Korine flick I never knew existed. Impressed on all levels with this. Lots of mellow, lap steel guitar. Pleasant surprise.

My Halloween 7" arrived today in a crappy padded envelope with no stiffeners. It's also significantly warped. I was already pissed before it arrived due to the revelation of no sleeve on a $15 7" while their store makes it look like it has one and makes no mention of the (unusual) absence of one.

So I have opened a paypal dispute and asked for my money back. This is the crappiest new item purchase I've had the misfortune of making in quite some time. W@nkers.

@antimax - sweeeet. i have the whole set of these babies. i had them as a kid and me and my brothers and sisters destroyed them, then a fellow came into the record store i worked at several years ago with a few of them in fantastic condition, so i bought them, then tracked the others down on ebay to complete the collection.

AAAAAND there was a guy there selling vintage turntables. i decided to go with this one, a Pioneer PL-600, as opposed to a brand new fancy one. this one sounds great, has a new belt and a new empire cartridge, fully serviced - paid $60:



on top of all of that, when i got home from the record expo yesterday, this was sitting on my desk, having arrived in the mail earlier in the day:


and while in urban outfitters using the photo booth (i love photo booth pics), we perused the sale section and i found this lovely thing for $9.99 on clearance:


and finally, while i did not purchase this, i thought it was a neat record player. linear track (i know there are strong debates about these types of turntables), but this one sat vertical, worked like a charm and sounded very nice:
