Damn, that sucks, @Bez.

My Arrow sale stuff also came in last week, plus some De Wolfe (and thanks to @Bez for making me aware of The Hills Run Red).

And yesterday, Bartleby came in. I cannot recommend this enough. I bought it totally blind and I love it.

Not sure what’s up with UK shipping. I bought Au Pair Girls and it took 6 weeks to arrive.
This Arrow stuff was here in 4 days and Bartleby was here in maybe 7 days? Weird.

Just arrived, and blowing the doors off - heavily rec'd to my funk disco brothers, first two tracks kick off with big Gaubert/Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane energy.

great selection @havershaw!

@ScoJo I need to start listening more to Gainsbourg. Yesterday I heard La Horse for the first time. I was blown away. Unfortunately the Vadim 7” goes for €40 which is a bit much... but what a track.

I might start watching some more French crime movies from the seventies in stead of all those Italian ones. Still need to see Un Flic as well.

I have the Hortensia reissue 7" which it seems is still quite pricey, shame. Wish Finders Keepers would press the full score.

Re: French crime movies - do it!! Though just be aware that there are not too many up there with Melville ;)
But aside from the classic post-noir stuff like Breathless and Shoot The Piano Player, Chabrol etc, there is also the amazing 80s-90s stuff of the Cinema du Look school (Besson, Beniex, Carax) and more recently there are some great French crime thrillers in the modern era. Go deep my friend!

Seconding any journey into Melville et al territory. I don’t know a ton of the later stuff but the new wave and just after stuff...excellent

Huh. I always thought that was Kristen Stewart's dad from the Twilight films.
The stache is close - but only close.
I'm just pulling your chain, Chris. I know C. Thomas Howell when I see him.

Very nice... that PoD is such a beautiful VS edition on every level, I love the key art. I was so into that film on release, I remember having a really long dream of the whole film before it came out! Then I saw it three or four times in theatre, and even wrote a detailed outline for a sequel haha. (which weirdly included a plot point where somebody has to choose between taking a blue or red pill....)

Invitation au Voyage eh? Nice, was that based on my shout out? Hope you enjoy as much as me.

Yeah I’ll be honest can’t say I had ever heard of the Invitation au Voyage before you posted about it. But I streamed a couple tracks liked what I heard so I kept it on my radar, found it for a decent price. Same can be said for Marco Polo and @static :)

I really like the liner notes from Carpenter on the VS releases. The notes for PoD are great, he talks about the recording process a little. Talks about his influences a bit and throws in some of that Carpenter whit. It’s the best.
