Ok, I just had the library music nerd equivalent to “hey I found a $20 bill in my jacket pocket!” experience.
A couple of years ago, I bought a large lot of De Wolfe on eBay. It wasn’t super expensive and there were 3-4 records in there I really, really wanted that were worth the price alone.
I got the lot and I ended up being kinda disappointed. The ones I wanted were great, but the whole lot was dirty and dusty enough that I didn’t really want to put any of them on the turntable without cleaning. And a lot seemed very “1979 - 1985”-ish, which starts to get into an era of production that isn’t really my cup of tea.
Anyway, I pulled the 3-4 I had bought the lot for, and disappointedly put the rest of the lot in a crate with some other records I wasn’t too excited about (doubles and triples of Hi-Q records I didn’t need, etc).
That crate ended up getting blocked into a corner by some other boxes in my office, and I totally forgot there were even records in there until a few days ago.
Finally just took these all to get cleaned and so far, I’ve loved every one that I’ve played. I’m sure there will still be a few that I’m not into, but it is crazy to me that all the records you see below have been hiding in my office since November of 2019.
