@deafmetal haha quality post, thank you.

@havershaw I like John Williams' THE FURY and I should put it back on the platter again, thanks for reminding me. Any particula favorite of yours ? I dont thinj anyone here will fault your for liking "obvious" composers here. I think we all like things like Jaws etc. John Barry, I'm not to familar with, I think I only own "the Deep", which I liked. Again, welcome to the forum.

Vinylcoin - all the current deluxe/limited reissues actually contain ultra high-frequency encrypted bitstreams that you need a special CoinMongerTM cartridge to decrypt. The value of each vinyl disc varies depending on exact ratio of artisan coffee grounds to beard shavings that are contained within the colored vinyl which directly alter the bitstream to salt the hash and generate hipster-friendly surface noise to ease the listening of the crappy album you bought on impulse due to the absolute certainty it was going to sell out immediately and never be repressed ever again.

@Havershaw - welcome to the forum!

@deafmetal - A+

@NathanLurker - I loooove the Fury. I feel like people don’t talk much about how great that score is.
Other than that, kind of the usuals w Williams: all of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones films, pretty much all of the Spielberg films up through Jurassic Park.
His stuff after that isn’t as thrilling to me. I’m not sure why.
His Dracula score is pretty terrific, and I think Witches of Eastwick has some pretty great moments on it too.

My favorite John Barry scores are The Black Hole and King Kong. I wish they’d release that expanded CD on vinyl. I don’t mind the OG vinyl, but I wish it weren’t so incomplete.

Speaking of JW, I’m going to be in LA tomorrow for his Hollywood Bowl concert.

Can any of you folks recommend some OST-centric record stores anywhere in LA (besides Amoeba)? I haven’t been to LA since I’ve been buying records, so I’m not sure where to look.

I must have missed that! I’m so happy you all are still here! I hope you are all well and surviving all this stuff going on! We are currently in lockdown again in Sydney but I’m still going to work every day!

Right, so its been a while since I posted but I just wanted to say Hi again.

During lockdown I had two strokes, not too bad ones but its made learning new things a bit difficult and working full time is hard. My wife and I moved to the country (a wine part of NSW in Australia called the Hunter Valley) and I guess i'm semi-retired so i'm back to working a lot on my own movie website which Ive had for about 8 years but its undergone a name change as well.

Anyway, Im excited to be back and am supercharged with excitement to see whats been happening here!! I have a lot of reading to catch up on.

Welcome back JR. Sorry to hear about your health issues. There's still a few of us kicking around here but a little less than the last time you were around. Plenty of stuff to catch up on I'm sure

Sorry to hear about the health issues, but glad you're back and getting to spend some time on the things you enjoy! What's the movie website?

@JR - welcome back and hoping your health has been stable or improving. It has been difficult to keep up with this hobby due to prices, but some of us attempt it even if it's just watching what gets released and making notes here.

Thanks for the warm welcome. The strokes were a bummer and apart from the learning stuff all is good. I didn’t lose any of what I have learnt it’s just difficult to learn new things quickly which is something I used to be good at which is quite frustrating. I’m also a lot more emotional now which is weird for me as I used to not be like that at all. In actual fact for about two years I couldn’t listen to music for more than an hour without crying for no reason.

My brain is my enemy! :D

Moving to the country has been great for my health but my record purchasing has died down as the post up here is terrible. Parcels turn up quite warm because the climate is hotter so I don’t trust that records would turn up ‘intact’. I’m waiting to go to Sydney to grab the soundtrack to The Substance!

My website is www.digitalretribution.com . I’ve been doing it for about 8 years or so, maybe 9 and there’s about 400 reviews on there. I’ve actually been reviewing movies for about 25 years and my website lost some traction post stroke unfortunately. I’m back doing it but not as hard as I used to. I am planning stuff better so I’ve got a fortnightly review going up, and then in October I’m holding “Nictoberfect” - a celebration of Nic Cage movies and in February I have “2 Fast 2 February” where it will all be car/ motor related films.
