The abyss deluxe edition was released on cd this year and Alan Silvestri is a Grammy winner!
The Thing and The Fly obviously have incredible soundtracks too, but I have ‘em already on wax – and let’s face it, it’s all about ME.
What type of soundtrack would you say The Fly sounds like? I saw this at my record store on RSD and I passed it up! I was being a bonehead at the time and got some other stuff instead. I'd never heard this score before. Is this something I need to go back and look for like NOW? LOL. It was only like $5.

@ninjaqutie I personally prefer Christopher Young's sequel score and play it more often but Howard Shore's original score is great and well worth having for $5. I paid $10 (before the big craze) and would easily pay that again. I would search for a few clips on youtube or spotify to be sure its for you but its very good IMO.

The Fly is a great score, but I don't find it works as well independently of the film. It's not one you'd stick on much for a listen. Unless you were throwing on a leather jacket and heading out for an arm wrestle.

Honestly I'll take brood, videodrome, the thing, scanners, christine, any of it would be awesome and death waltz will absolutely kill it. Pun intended.

DWR needs to release all of those, simple as that :)

I can't really see DWR doing any Silvestri to be honest...

I could go on all day of awesome stuff DW could do so I think I will stop with these two: peeping tom and klute.

One of the things I really love about the sub is the surprise factor of some of the releases. I think at this point DW (Spencer) has proven that we are going to get cool unique releases, I would sign up for the sub even if we didn't know any of the releases beforehand. It would be cool to throw in a total mystery release sometime with no indication of what it was on the packaging or labels. You wouldn't know what it is until it showed up at your house and you dropped the needle, and even than you may not know what it is.

@ Rasmus. I agree that Silvestri doesn't seem to fit the DW mold, but you never know. I like alot of his work and have been liking the music he is doing for the show Cosmos.

I actually got a Videodrome as a filler about 5 years ago...I had bought some random punk rock record and the guy had packed it with Videodrome (in mint condition) on one side and Herrmann's Obsession on the other side...I was actually more excited about the packing materials than I was about the punk rock record I had bought for $5!

This whole Peaks thing is unreal...the musical archive for Twin Peaks is absolutely massive and absolutely breathtaking (most of it)...I've got a lot of it in mp3/cd form and yet I still have lots more to get. I've always said that it's a crime that it is not more widely known or available and I mean that in any format. The programme itself was watched religiously for a while and by the general masses. The film soundtrack is equally a must too, the film did get universally derided on its release. We'll soon have the chance to get TP on vinyl and in a newly DW packaged release(s)...this is simply the best vinyl news that I've ever heard. I'm so pleased that DW have secured this one...whoever made that decision, has chosen wisely.

These releases are going to be huge imo. From cool lounge jazz, sonic discordance/horror/dark brooding mystery to harmonic and divine beauty etc (hell, I sound like a Time Life advert!). Do not underestimate the power of Twin Peaks...it still has a massive cult following (I'm one of them) and those who are not yet fans in the musical/soundtrack sense...most soon will be!

That said...here's one of my favs (although I've got so many favs), the very deliberately nostalgic sounding, 'Louise Dombrowsky' inspired...Hook Rug Dance.

I listened to Twin Peaks a lot in the 90s and actually got a bit sick of it and sold my CD. When DWR announced that they would be releasing it, I got curious and found the vinyl at a local online auction (for the decent price of £8). And I was surprised about how good it was and how much I'd missed it!

Looking forward to it getting the DWR treatment...

Aye...understandable, that would've been the Season 1 cd (also in vinyl format) and it was the only available music for quite sometime (save the film OST early 90's), it would've been repetitive, after a while. The Season 2 CD didn't come out until 2007 and in limited quantities. The 2nd CD was going for £50 a pop until recently....then Sacred Bones got hold of a load. The 2nd season of the actual TV show wasn't even on DVD until 2007...had to wait years for that!

I can remember Moby forging the early part of his career on the back of Laura Palmer's Theme.

I'm still waiting on the Blu-Ray and the deleted scenes from FWWM...the deleted scenes are the stuff of legend!

£8 sounds like a great price for the vinyl, have seen it go for upwards of £30. I can't wait for DW to get this/these bad-boy(s) out. Badalamenti is a star. :)

Love the Julee Cruise album that came out around the same time as the Twin Peaks soundtrack. I was obsessed with both of those. Used to have them on cassette

@horseloverphat

I can't help but agree that it is far and away the most excited I've ever been about a vinyl release. I regularly rewatch the series as well as listen to the music (although I don't have all of it!) and can't believe how big a coop this is for Spencer/DW! So excited to see the artwork for it, but really hope the classic green Twin Peaks typography is still used!

Was that "coop" intentional? Well done, either way
