OOh....this sounds freaking great! Barry De Vorzon's expanded original score for The Warriors:

http://www.soundtrack.net/albums/database/?id=10670

Only CD release unfortunately, but look forward to hearing that big time! De Vorzon has a handful
of fantastic scores which really deserve some attention from the likes of DWRC.....inc. Looker, The Ninth
Configuration, Rolling Thunder and Night of the Creeps!

Here are the details - a bit extensive, but too tired to edit much sorry so hope they get someone else excited :)

Barry DeVorzon’s influential original film score finally makes its world premiere, nearly 35 years since the film’s release (the two score tracks on the original ’79 album were uniquely mixed for that release). Some of DeVorzon material presented here was ultimately cut from the film, so fans will get to hear these tracks for the very first time. DeVorzon’s masterful, progressive synch-rock score undoubtedly inspired many filmmakers and composers, from John Carpenter and Harold Faltermeyer to Hans Zimmer and countless others.

I have an email in to Superior Viaduct to see if it'll be releasing these in the US as it is the regular Solaris LP soundtrack.

From Superior Viaduct: "Superior Viaduct is doing the original soundtracks to Solaris and later The Mirror / Stalker that MiruMir are also doing. We're not doing the re-recorded version of Solaris that MiruMir is doing, though."

Holy cow, after the great drought comes a veritable monsoon of Artemyev/Tarkovsky!

No less than two versions of both Solaris and Stalker/Mirror, all on vinyl (and with sleeve variants on the
Superior Viaduct releases)...

and to top it all off, Martinez incredible score to the 2002 version is also finally coming on wax:

All good things etc.....!

Man, I'm excited but slightly confused about these Solaris releases!

What is meant by "not the re-recorded version"?

So I'm guessing that the Superior Viaduct version is the better one to get then... Maybe more limited too?

The Mirmur version looks great too, in the original Italian poster art sleeve. Has anyone actually got this one yet? What's the pressing like?

Re-animated Cat:

As I understand it, the soundtrack was never released originally, so Artemiev did a re-recording in 1989-90 - the Mirumir version which is now being released on vinyl.

So I assume the "not the re-recorded version"/Superior Viaduct version is simply taken directly from the film. Meaning the quality is probably not as good as the re-recording, but it is of course the "original"...

As I understand it:

MiruMir

MIR100705LP – The original 1970s Solaris score from the film
MIR100708LP – The 1990s re-recording of Solaris score
MIR100709LP – The 1990s re-recording of Stalker/Mirror score

Superior Viaduct

Superior Viaduct are releasing the same music as MIR100705LP and MIR100709LP

Invada

Invada are exclusively releasing the Cliff Martinez score of the 2002 film.

RD, you have it right. This is how I understand it.

The Solaris with the scientist-carrying-woman-in-spaceship cover and the recent Superior Viaduct Solaris LP are the same (proper soundtrack release) except for the covers.

The new Solaris LP (photo of scientist carrying woman) is the re-recording. This will not be released in the US by Superior Viaduct. The Mirror/Stalker LP is also from the re-recording, and both MiruMir and SV should be releasing the same thing except with different covers.

Comparing with the various CD releases:

The Torso Kino release is the re-recording one, and this is where the two new LPs are coming from (http://www.discogs.com/Edward-Artemyev- ... ster/84406).

The proper Solaris soundtrack was also released in Japan, unofficially: http://www.discogs.com/%D0%AD%D0%B4%D1% ... se/2837272. The music on this CD and the new LP should be the same (not necessarily in recording quality but in content).

Which means, there is still the Mirror/Stalker soundtrack proper to come out someday, hopefully: http://www.discogs.com/%D0%AD%D0%B4%D1% ... se/3034697.

Thanks guys.

I would prefer an 'original' recording, but don't like the sound of it being taken directly from the film. The source for the pressing can't really be the film!? But if not, what's the source then?

Also, I thought this was officially released in Japan in 1978 (http://www.discogs.com/Eduard-Artemiev- ... se/1588934).

So how can Mirmur/Superior Viaduct be saying that this is the first ever official pressing?

anyone hear about the soundtrack for upcoming horror film 'Nothing Left to Fear'? the score was written by SLASH and a double vinyl edition is available through his pledge music campaign.

http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/sla ... gn=person7

not sure if it is worth getting. i love SLASH, but not sure how a horror score would be. anyone heard any of this?

EDIT - watching the video on the above URL now.

Re-a Cat, the one that you link to on Discogs has 12 tracks, while on the SV site they are listing 17 tracks. And the time for the SV release is roughly 10 minutes more than the Discogs one, so maybe that first vinyl wasn't complete and/or official.

It is pretty confusing, though.

Hi guys,

Here's how I understand it - I hope this clarifies things, and I hope I'm right - please let me know if you see it differently however!

SOLARIS EDITIONS ON VINYL AND CD

- MELODIYA: SOLARIS (VINYL - 1972) Russia and Japan
The original score, 12 track, 38mins
- MELODIYA: SOLARIS (VINYL - ????) Russia
An unofficial version of the above?? (Says "Special Collectors Edition" on sleeve reverse) *
- COLUMBIA: SOLARIS (VINYL - 1978) Japan
The original score (as above)
- TORSO KINO: SOLARIS,MIRROR,STALKER (VINYL+CD - 1990) Netherlands
Re-recorded score, 7 tracks from Solaris, 38mins *
- TOEI: TARKOVSKY VOL 3, SOLARIS (CD - 1995) Japan
Re-recorded score, 17 tracks, 48mins *
- MUSIC BOX INTERNATIONAL: SOLARIS,MIRROR,STALKER (VINYL+CD - 1991) Greece
Re-recorded,as above Torso Kino edition.
- MILAN: SOLARIS,MIRROR,STALKER (CD - 2002) France
Re-recorded, as above Torso Kino/Music Box int.
- MIRUMIR: SOLARIS (VINYL - 2013) Russia
Original score, 17 tracks (in two movements), 52mins *
- MIRUMIR: SOLARIS (VINYL - 2013) Russia
Re-recorded score (as above Torso Kino etc)*
- SUPERIOR VIADUCT: SOLARIS (VINYL - 2013) USA
Original score, as above Mirumir, with three hand-made variant sleeves (!)
- SUPERIOR VIADUCT: SOLARIS (VINYL - 2013) USA
Re-recorded score, as above Mirumir (and same as Torso Kino etc) *

Furthermore Norman Records has details of the soundtracks to STALKER/MIRROR on one LP, again both the original scores now struck from masters and the early 90s re-score versions. It looks like Superior Viaduct will be licensing these too (and with god only knows how many different sleeves!)

In any event, this is a bewildering and quite overwhelming torrent of music suddenly becoming available from these films on 180g vinyl, and praise be to Norman Records for stocking them in the UK :)I've had my Solaris (original score, Mirumir) which sounds and looks amazing, and this week they are meant to be shipping me the Mirumir re-recorded Solaris vinyl and the Stalker/Mirror original score vinyl. WOW!!! It does appear that the Solaris (original score) is newly mastered from the source.

As I have a number of other editions of Solaris, I plan to try and do a detailed comaprison at some point regarding mono/stereo, original/re-score etc. I've asterixed the ones I personally own...

Happy days orbiting that strange ocean planet.......

@discosucks wow mate that is comprehensive! Thanks.

Think I'll try to bag the Superior Viaduct original score then. Would still like some official confirmation on the master source though.

Feel totally spoilt for choice!

Holy crap. I avoid the internet for a couple of days and it's announced that Cliff Martinez's Solaris score is to get a double vinyl release - exactly what I wish-listed for on this site, on this very thread...

If I had any ego I'd say they heard my plea - as it is I'm just gonna sit here clicking refresh until the buy it now button appears.
