@Tim I find myself listening to that original release more often then the Mondo as well. Nothing against the expanded release, the sound quality is great but I think the original makes for a better listen overall.

@static, I can't put my finger on it but there is something about the Mondo that just doesn't pull me in like the original. I think Rhino originally released the expanded on CD and I felt the same, always going for this over the expanded CD.

Blue Sky Black Death - Noir



Kingston and Young God create another masterpiece akin to A Heap of Broken Images and Late Night Cinema. Cinematic, epic, shoegaze influenced instrumentals, deep memorizing tracks that leave you in a different state of mind. In my opinion, BSBD are some of the best producers in the game. They have a complete understanding of musical progression and develop some of the best instrumental music I've ever heard. NOIR really highlights their talents and only leaves you wanting more. I cannot recommend this album enough.

Emancipator - Safe In The Steep Cliffs


'Safe In The Steep Cliffs' has the tightest, most unique, most organic instrumentals I've heard in the last few years. This album has a new palette of sounds and samples from around the world, including original recordings (guitar/violin/mandolin/banjo) and new guest artists including Japanese jazz musician Uyama Hiroto. It's ominous and overgrown, dense and ethereal. And epic. Always epic.

I second Cult's recommendation for BSBD Noir. You'd have to pry a red & blue copy out of someone's cold lifeless fingers by this point, but SlyVinyl is currently repressing another 500 on black. I remember Spencer tweeted about Dracula Ad 1972 a while back, so i'm sure its on the roster for the next few years. I think he has so many planned releases its a matter of spacing them out.
