Sacred Bones did a great job on Eraserhead and The Air Is On Fire (Lynch releases) so I wouldn't unneccesarily worry about this label...I guess I'll have to wait for the 'pre-order' link to show up on the Bones site?

I have to agree. $38 is hard to swallow with a deluxe version.

went with the O/B, i'd like to know what the $8 difference gets you, but as a carpenter junkie i had to go for the most.

From a Sacred Bones email that I just got:

We’re offering the album on CD, black vinyl, orange-and-black swirl vinyl (limited to 300 copies) and red-and-black swirl vinyl enclosed in a wraparound sleeve (limited to 400 copies). All LPs will be packaged in a deluxe gatefold sleeve, and those two limited edition color variants are exclusive to our site, so we recommend acting fast.

Ugh, three month pre-orders. If you're happy to just go for black (hi!) I'm sure this'll turn up in shops next year.

Is this 2xlp or no? I kinda want to try the paypal route so I can use Bill me later cause a 3 month pre-order kinda sucks.

Amazon has the black vinyl for preorder for around the same price. The higher price gets you the screen printed wraparound sleeve (like with Eraserhead). What confuses me is that the newsletter says the red/black version is the deluxe version, but the preorder pages says it's the orange/black version. I've emailed them for clarification on this, will let you know what I find.

I'd reckon the $33 is the deluxe one, presumably something like the Eraserhead one which had some fancy paper around it with a wax seal.

I ordered the orange/black one, and in my PayPal receipt it had "deluxe" next to "orange/black." The newsletter also has the orange/black one at the smallest production number of 300.

Pretty sure it's just one LP.

Eh, I think I'll stick with an Amazon pre-order, $18 more for a swirl and nicer packaging isn't really my thing (unless it was Godzilla). If they had thrown in a 7" with more music, I would have been more inclined.

When someone gets more clarification on the different variants, can they please post here. I’m going to wait and hopefully it won’t sell out.

Yep, I'm a sucker for a vinyl/packaging variant as much as the next person, but the additional cost of the deluxe versions, international shipping and possible import VAT, is too prohibitive, given that the most important element - the music - is the same across all editions.

NB: I had to post this as now I've put it here in writing, it means I can no longer be tempted... ;)

Sacred Bones often do a pretty limited mailorder special version with extra wraparound paper sleeve sealed with wax. They don't mention that here and it's not really worth the extra they charge for it (unless they screenprint the sleeve too) but I'm guessing the orange/black has this.

I've ordered both variants because I'm obsessed with the sample track.

In the newsletter they say the red/black is the one with the wraparound sleeve (yes, more copies than the other color), but on the site, the one listed as deluxe is the orange/black, so they have conflicting info out there. The more expensive version would be the one with the wraparound sleeve. I'm guessing that the newsletter is mixed up and the preorder page is correct, but I'll let you know when I hear back from them.

Anybody know how many copies of the black vinyl are being pressed?

Got word from Sacred Bones: the orange/black color is the deluxe version with the wraparound sleeve.

The previous wraparound sleeves like Eraserhead have had some silk screening, so this may also be the case for Lost Themes. It is a construction paper type wrap around the album jacket with a sacred bones wax seal and hand numbered. Essential? No. Cool? Fuck yeah. I'm in for one.

Ordered the deluxe version. Even if it hurts for nearly 50$....

Yeah, the Eraserhead one is cool. It's not essential, but at least with this record it's a different color than the other versions.
