My pleasure. http://www.duttonvocalion.co.uk
I've seen them on Amazon.co.uk tonight also. Looks like the label has some other soundtrack stuff to it's name but i haven't yet looked through what they have to offer.

OK, it's not vinyl (not yet anyway, bah!) but series 2 CD of Utopia reviewed by Starburst here:

Must say the 1st series is probably a favourite spin of the year so looking forward to this if (when?) it's deigned with a vinyl release...

A heads up that both Intrada and La La Land Records will be doing vinyl releases in 2015. There's a discussion on the Film Score Monthly message board here.

Michael Gerhardt from La La Land states: "We have about 6-10 vinyls planned for 2015 as well. No reason why Mondo and the likes should make money off our projects. We'll have deluxe packaging, original artwork... the works. Might as well make a couple bucks."

And Roger Feigleson from Intrada: "I tried to get our Robocop license renewed and lost it to a label doing it on vinyl. And a holy grail release I've been after for years is coming out in vinyl, only by someone else." He also says that the releases are being specifically remastered for vinyl.

What's he talking about: "No reason why Mondo and the likes should make money off our projects" ?

Does he mean other companies have been licensing OSTs after his company's license runs out or something?

@deathwaltz, agree 100%

Yeah, i was hesitant to comment on that, because at the end of the day it is a business and you are making your living off of it, but oh man what a callous way to say it. I mean, the reason we (most of us anyway) love the small labels is because we know that these releases are put out by real fans and collectors. especially since we see how carefully curated these releases are.

Don't get me wrong, i've seen a lot of great scores get nice, expanded releases from Intrada and La La Land, but the way whatsisname from la al land speaks, it does leave a bad taste in my mouth. and believe me, i'm a professional advertiser and capitalist extraordinaire, but good god lets think about the PR before you come out with a statement like "No reason why Mondo and the likes should make money off our projects...might as well make a couple of bucks"

I don't care if that's your goal with this, of course everyone wants to make money, but lets be a little classy about it in public shall we...

"Might as well make a couple of bucks"

I never imagined anybody was making a fortune out of this game. Even with the much heralded 1m mark in vinyl sales being passed, it's still a drop in the ocean. I think I read that the total sales for vinyl equate to sales of Ed Sheeran's second album.
The idea that someone is being fiddled out of a few quid is a bit of a stretch. Yes records are expensive, but they're expensive to make, notwithstanding the effort these guys go to get art, original tapes etc. ITunes charge £7 for an album!
Anyway, when Spencer moved, he went to Margate, not Beverly Hills. Know what I mean?

I for one am happy to see Intrada releasing albums on vinyl again. They always did an amazing job mastering their old releases.

I'm happy they're doing vinyl again too... though I agree with Spencer and al that the tone of the message was inappropriate.

I, too, am looking forward to LA LA Land and Intrada entering the fray. Especially if the labels' are truly focused on mastering for vinyl. Rising tides float all boats.

I would rather see Varese Sarabande make "vinyls" again.

I've never cared much for Intrada releases. Their mastering quality is often sub-par: The weird extreme stereo separation on "Masada", the meandering EQ on "Conan the Barbarian", the muffled new recording of "Spellbound" and high frequency noise on "Predator" come to mind, but there are many more examples. They have releases real gems aswell , the "Red house" re-recording sounds superb for example.
To add insult to injury, I once made the stupid mistake of pointing out audible high frequency noise on "Predator" (backed up with evidence of loud 10khz and 15khz noise) and within minutes their entire message board AND Feigelson himself jumped in to ridicule and insult me and my "dog ears".

I really try to avoid them whenever possible, my personal experience with Feigelson certainly contributes to this, but the wildly fluctuating mastering quality is a real problem, and in most cases an original CD or LP release sounds infinitely better than anything Intrada has done.

My experience with LLL have been much better, although some of their releases sound less then stellar (Batman anyone...) they are usually very honest about such things in advance, and outsource the mastering to a professional.
The "making a buck" remark is probably just to soothe the horde at other message boards, where the general consensus seems to be that vinyl is for hipsters, and where the atmosphere can quickly turn very nasty once there's blood in the water.

I am very curious what they come up with, but I do hope they find a way to distribute them in the EU, because shipping costs from SAE and the likes will probably rival Mondo's.

I am also very curious who will release Robocop on vinyl.

Yes they are. I also have Ender's Game, which was released by Varese.

I believe they have also released Stuck in Love and Pain & Gain on vinyl in recent years.

But I would love them to release more.
