this sounds fantastic. a release appearing in the death waltz distributed titles has basically been a mark of "you should buy this" signoff in my book. great to see this continue. we are all finding a lot of great records and artists through your suggestions.

i fully trust spencer, he's never let us down before. while im pretty sad to lose the sub, and the perks of it (ability to purchase hook and pull gang comes to mind...) I'm really excited to see what's next. Keep up the excellent work DW!

I'm a product of a post Phantom Menace world, sceptical until proven otherwise.

I'm not bashing Spence or DW, just really let down by this news because not one bit if it appeals to me. But if it's better for him, great, I can't knock someone bettering their situation. I'm also down to eat crow when the situation arrives. If you have all thus great secret news, Spence, take satisfaction in knowing when it's unleashed sceptical bholes like me will firmly place their foot in their mouth.

Also I don't view Mondo as some faceless corporation. I've only literally ever heard from faceless interns who've given me misinformation vs hearing direct from the owner of DW or Waxwork or Oneway for the smallest of issues.

It may well be symantecs but it isn't a merger. It's an acquisition meaning mondo bought DW. But in doing so gave Spencer the top job of finding and creating new stuff.

Unless I read it wrong: Mondo is thrilled to announce the acquisition of elite UK soundtrack label Death Waltz Recording Company. Expanding their global reach for stunningly packaged and highly demanded soundtracks

I work in an industry where many acquisitions take place, they usually take the good stuff remove the bad stuff and make a better whole. The key principle behind buying a company is to create shareholder value over and above that of the sum of the two companies. Two companies together are more valuable than two separate companies

Apart from subs being axed this all reads as nothing we didn't know about already... Mondo is getting better distribution in the UK/Europe (hopefully!) and, though the DW shop moving to the US is a concern, it wouldn't make much sense if DW branded titles were suddenly less available over here as a result, or we ended up paying £32 each with the shipping added on.

Hope the positives will continue in that we'll get our records a little faster too. Get the feeling DW's main man has been spread a little thin of late being much in demand here, there and everywhere, so hopefully he can get back to doing what he does best and, as indicated, someone else can focus on the customer service side which hopefully benefits us all.

Must say I do appreciate the continued personal input on these boards though, from all the label guys.

Mondo bought DW and have installed me to run the music division - which one day I hope to do when not answering the same questions again & again

This will tottally free up my time to be more creative , sign more records and generally do what I set out to do with DW before I became a customer service representive

If was being a complete sefish cock I would say no one has the right to feel let down or upset because this is my label and I have only ever run it from a fans point of view for myself, but because I am only a cock behind closed doors I do care & listen, but honestly this benifits two great labels to become ever bigger and better.

I'm not discussing this any more if it is as boring for you as it is for me then we are all doomed ... Can we just get back to talking about kick ass records ?

I've been a subber since sub 1 and I have to say that it feels like a good time to end the sub service to me. It's been a brilliant service, and I'm glad to have been involved, but I'm sure Spencer will be able to now spend more time focusing on future releases and getting them out.

The biggest plus for me was always the convenience of just getting the releases mailed out and not having to worry about it - was always a nice surprise to come home to a mystery package too. I'm lucky enough that my (excellent) local record shop has a DW section and gets all the releases so I'll be able to just wander down and pick up everything there - which will mean supporting both DW and my local store.

Thanks for all the good times so far Spencer, and here's to the future.
