Of course... but I will go only for the green one. I am curious for The Wicker Man! ;)

that makes me nuts when they announce another variant after the fact. or maybe i just missed it. i think i would have preferred green over orange in this case, so i guess it worked out for the best. :)

I couldn't help myself and ordered the wicker man despite having the trunk and music on vinyl versions. Not sure why they've decided to have the songs out of order but it may be interesting to hear a different arrangement.

It killed me for years that there wasn't a soundtrack album and now years later we're on to the third version.

Seriously - they've rearranged the track sequence. I can do that on itunes. I'm sure that a vinyl reissue might appeal to people introduced to the film for the first time with its latest cinema / bluray rerelease. But why announce that it is the first time in this particular track order as if that is important!!? If this now a criteria for reissues god help us.... I've always wanted Thriller in a new track order etc....

Agreed - happy if they sell on that alone!

They are selling a poster only option. Can anyone tell me which version of this soundtrack has the best fidelity? Sleeve art and vinyl color info is welcome as well, but not as important. Cheers!

Apparently this one is a Silva Screen release on black vinyl. What I'd like to know is why they rearranged the track (besides money) and if the Trunk or the MOV is the preferred release. The Trunk has more cuts, but I've been very pleased with MOV fidelity of late.

Just blundered across a new pressing of the narco ost by Sebastien Tellier which is a fairly lovely thing:

http://sebastientellier.bandcamp.com/album/narco-ost

Here's the press release:

Sébastien Tellier recorded this 40 minutes long score in 2004, for french long feature « NARCO », a film by Gilles Lellouche and Tristan Aurouet, with Guillaume Canet, Benoit Poolevoorde, Zabou Breitman and François Berléand. It features an epic orchestral music & vintage electronics ; tender music & lush arragements in the great tradition of french composers from the 70s.

The First release was due to Japanese demand. After many years of trainspotting, DJS worldwide are able to enjoy remastered versions of much sought after ‘La Ballade du Georges’ & ‘Le Long de la Rivière tendre’ also includes Tellier’s now considered classic track “La Ritournelle”.

CD digipack 4 pages booklet.

LP standard 3mm spine sleeve with black inner sleeve - MP3 included. Limited one off re-pressing.

TRACKLISTING:

1/A1. La ballade du Georges 2/A2. Le démon Pupkin 3/A3. Le château Pupkin 4/A4. Le beguin begins 5/A5. Lelong de la rivière tenders 6/A6. Dixi 7/A7. Pam ! Exit la folie 8/B1. Geoges Thibault Rouhergues 9/B2. Rien de rien par Pupkin 10/B3. Gus Gracie 11/B4. Un narco en été 12/B5. Pupkin et ses demons 13/B6. La ritournelle

I noticed this morning on Amazon that the Tindersticks soundtrack for Les Salauds and Dickon Hinchliffe's soundtrack for Red Riding: 1980 are available for pre-order.

I just spoke with Rare Sleeve on twitter and they said that the Silva Screen lp that they are selling has a unique tracklist because, "It's the first 11 tracks from the CD that chart the songs in the film, omitting the incidental music at the end." I like "incidental music" so I'll be passing on this release, but I'm still torn about which other version to purchase, MOV or Trunk. Now if only there was someone on here who could give me an informed opinion. Someone with an avatar from the film itself perhaps? Oh well. A boy can dream.

Ha ha. I think if you want everything that's available you have to buy both versions.

The trunk one is mono and was taken from the music and effects tape. Willows song is missing some lines and there's no Gently Johnny.

The MOV version is stereo (at least the songs are), has the extra lines in willows song and includes Gently Johnny. I think it's shorter overall though so there must be less of the incidental music (I'm going to need to do some listening to remember what that is though).

I kinda prefer the trunk artwork as it's just stills from the film whereas the MOV one has an arty cover. They both have different stills elsewhere. My trunk lp had a map of the summerisle, I think the MOV may have had apsoter but I need to check that.

I really can't recall any difference in sound quality.

I am going to have to find time to spin both LPs tonight now. Thanks!

Saw this one by chance :

Le Bunker de la Dernière Rafale by Marc Caro and Jean-Pierre Jeunet : here

I saw it a long time ago and don't remember at all the soundtrack but it looks great.

@John_Flitchy: I saw this yesterday as well and I cannot for the life of me find sound samples. I did find a cut of the short film on vimeo so failing any actual samples, I'll watch that when I get some spare moments.

John_Flitchy + Mateo: just note, this is NOT the original soundtrack from the short film - it's a recording of the live soundtrack performed by Parazite under Caro's direction at a screening in 2011 (if the "google-translated" French release notes are to be understood correctly ;) So it may well be quite different from the original score. Just thought I'd mention.

Yeah I read the notes before posting (and since I'm French, in both versions since the site is in both languages: here).
But thanks anyway.

It may be a re-reading but the composition stays the same.
