Interesting factoids... a deliberate trim compared to last year, or less that qualified submitted?

Wonder how many dedicated record stores there currently are in the UK compared with a year ago & whether RSD and the so-called vinyl revival has lead to a few more opening, or at least prevented a few from closing. Or perhaps the picture is pretty static.

We knocked a few titles back due to labels only pressing 300 or so plus i think people took on board that there were too many last year (Even DW are only releasing two this year)
Stores are opening and the existing stores are buoyont so all good really.

I hope that some of the two Death Waltz releases make it to the US at the original prices!

Just for clarification I did add a couple of US titles for completion sake - when I get a minute I'll update, but the majority did come from the UK list. I'm trying to get confirmation from Varese on whether their titles will get UK/EU distribution as well.

It's great news that the indie stores are doing well, just a shame Piccadilly has such a grip on Manchester that it takes the fun out of the whole day itself. Leeds has 3 really good indie stores so I might head over to Leeds!

I can't attend this year unfortunately, but I've just looked at the list again and if anyone ends up with a spare Moomins 7" please let me know and i'll gladly pay you handsomely. (Vapormeyer@hotmail.com)

Defo giving RSD a miss this year, massive lack of funds and stuff I want compared to previous years. I was queuing from about Midnight last year and was 4th in queue. Could of rocked up day after in hindsight as still had majority of stuff I wanted when I went back later in the day. Least I won't be freezing my nads off getting abused by all drunks spilling out of clubs asking us what we are queuing for.
PS-told them we was queuing for new Harry Potter book !

@DrRhythm

Indeed... can't see even today's 40-somethings who were pop kids at the time getting misty eyed about a Now album (!)

Know RSD has been criticised before as an excuse to put out any old tat - seems like a case in point. Fortunately there is plenty of other stuff of more interest.

But, but, but, is it day-glo Bennetton rainbow splatter?

Banquet has the Cinevox box listed at £87. Seems quite expensive for five 7"s, even for a limited release - I thought it would be £40-50. I'll be removing that from my want list for Saturday.

Most of Banquet's listings don't have prices yet (30 days of night £25 - staying on my list!).

@chiefbrody

Banquet is my local store, so where I'll probably be heading this Saturday for the fourth year in a row... though not looking forward to the tortuously slow moving queue!

They have a policy of letting in a handful at a time who can browse for as long as they want, so only when they are fully satiated are the next lot let in. It's a bit like a sweet shop at school closing time :)

You heading down?

Saw Rough Trade were listing the Cinevox for £89 (!) - I honestly think it will be cheaper to get from Italy if you really want it.

What surprised me more was that they were listing the two DW titles for £30 a pop - seem to recall last year the DW releases were a much more reasonable £20 or thereabouts. That said "it's all about supporting the stores"

Hey @spun, Banquet isn't my local unfortunately but they've been a good source of some harder to find releases for me over the years. I'm currently wondering which of my 2 favourite shops to go to first on Saturday - the one I've picked up more RSD releases from, but is unlikely to stock if DW releases, or the one that's much better for OSTs.

That does surprise me about the DW releases if that is the price, but looking at the pics of BBW, it looks a lot more 'deluxe' than some previous RSD releases. I'll definitely be trying to get that, and probably Night Satan too.

As you say, it's about helping make sure the shops keep going, as much as the records themselves.

Norman listing BBW at £27.69 and NS at £25.89.

Maybe it's just the bits I've been buying, but feels like prices have been rocketing over the last 6 months across the board. :(

@chuck - am a 65 bus ride down to Banquet. Recall there used to be a second hand record shop in Epsom around the corner from the Ashley Centre, but long gone probably. There's also the tiny independent People records in Guildford that also does RSD - it's literally the size of a front room. Outside of Central London it's slim pickings regarding the South East, but if anyone knows otherwise be great to hear

Yeah the Record Collectors in Epsom went a few years back. I heard something about a couple of "young local folk" tying the owner up and taking all his cash and a load of stock. I love it here, lovely place!!

Not sure if I'll be heading down to BR on Saturday, absolutely no money and a family... So will have to wait a while and pick them up further down the road. I hope you guys have a great time making your purchases

@chuck, I'll be in Glasgow. Deciding whether to go to LoveMusic or Monorail. I suspect the latter, as I don't think LoveMusic will get in the DW releases. I'm hoping they put a list on facebook or twitter (neither have detailed websites, and I don't want to hassle them being one more person asking "are you getting in X for RSD?").

We will have the shogun ost up on our website a week after RSD for those who are not able to score a copy on RSD.
