Yeah, from the IG post, it sounds like Spencer was hiding a few copies of those in with the other stock. I can't image there was a large stack of original Maniac LP's just lying around Mondo HQ, but who knows? As @texasvinyl said, I hope they went to good homes.

Sounds like the Mondo popup shop was better than the Third Man Records rolling record store that came to Dallas today. They only had three copies of a limited 7" for sale. I did get a pin, a couple of stickers and a single. The truck is really cool though!

I just got back from a long day in Austin, so forgive me for taking so long to leave an update on how the pop-up record shop went. Anyone waiting on an e-mail from me, I'll be responding to some tonight, and some tomorrow morning, and I will be shipping as much of the records I bought as possible.

First, the let-downs: only one Maniac was available, and it went to the second person in line (I was third). If I had gotten it, then I would've given it to the first person in line (who deserved it). So anyone e-mailing, asking me to pick up a copy of Maniac after 12 like they were complimentary made me chuckle a little bit. Second, I did not grab a single copy of the Drive soundtrack, as during my search for it, someone was literally climbing on my back, so I'm sorry to anyone who was looking for a copy of that as well.

The good news!

I may have enough of these? They turned out to be $35 a piece, but damn is this whole release beautiful . . I really couldn't say enough (but I won't say anything).

Also,

. . for the first person who asked for it.

. . two of these at $35 a piece to the fortunate two who asked me first for these (you'll find out when I e-mail you).

. . for my good friend VinyLOST!

And to rub it in, some stuff I was able to snag for myself:

And I found this lying around somewhere:

Thanks guys, most of the records I took literally out of Spencer's hands before he could re-shelf them . . it was a madhouse. Also, he told me some really exciting details about the upcoming record store day releases that should get your asses out of the house that morning.

@Spun out of control - yours is the only e-mail I haven't sent to or received from, so get to me when you can so that I can get your record to you as quickly as possible (the dozens of e-mails I've received from random board members (?) about this release have made me anxious to send them out).

I'm still packing everyone's records as neatly as possible; there are twelve packages overall, and I don't want to screw up any customs labels, so practice patience with me.

The soundtrack for Girl Walks is almost all original music written and performed by at least five bands. I was just telling vinyljunkie that it's very eclectic, at times sounding like synth-driven new wave, and at other times like Goblin is backing an Arabian folk singer. Altogether, the record pulls off a consistent, mystic sense of dread, and besides being a delight for simply being different, it really just gives me chills.

@minus_ape - reply to my e-mail so that I can refund you the difference.

@liftman2013 - reply to my e-mail so that I can send this to you.

Even as someone who was not interested in grabbing this title, just wanted to give props to @LittleWalter for taking care of everyone like he did. Very generous of him and it was awesome to see/read!

Thanks for the kind words, guys! I'm headed to the post office right now, so expect shipping information soon.

If you knew what was in the box on the bottom, you would track the postman down and Snake Plissken his ass.

@NMA....ha, ha, was just about to suggest the same thing... and concur with the general praise for the noble actions of the few (well, one, in fact) benefitting the many. Top guy.

Another thing: a much faster shipping turnaround than the real Mondo ;)

Still wondering what Spencer thought when he grabbed all those records - must have been a weight to carry out?

@Spun - oh yeah, carrying all of that was really ridiculous actually. I had to ask people to throw records on top of my stack for me near the end. Spencer's response when I said I wanted fifteen of them was a quick, "Ah, fucking hell . ." and I had to reassure him that I wasn't a flipper. He asked if I was on spin, and then he recalled what I was there for when I said my username, which led to a cool discussion about the record industry, and a firm "International shipping is a bitch."

International shipping's definitely that, which is no trouble when it's a favor, but I would have to charge out the ass if I wanted to make a coin. The next time I spend $20 on shipping for a record from Anywhere, Europe, I'm going to say, "Oh, that's not so bad."

@Little Water I guess you not charged me for actual shipping cost, but much less. Thanks so much, but I'm not happy about this! I will send you some money on top when I will see actual cost on label!
