‘JOURNEY’ SOUNDTRACK COMING TO VINYL

The soundtrack to the critically acclaimed and beautifully minimalist PlayStation-exclusive video game Journey is being pressed to vinyl, courtesy of iam8bit and Thatgamecompany, the title’s developers. The album will be presented as a double picture disc housed within a gatefold sleeve designed by artist Mark Englert.
Pre-orders for the set will go live at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 23. While quantities have not been revealed, it’s safe to assume that this will be a limited edition run.
Journey was originally released in 2012 as a downloadable title on SONY’s PlayStation Network and was re-released later the same year as part of a PS3-exclusive retail package. A remastered HD version is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4 later this year. [Ed. Note: If you’ve never played Journey, stop whatever you’re doing and go play it.]
The game’s emotive soundtrack, composed by Austin Wintory, won both the 2013 BAFTA Games Award for Original Score and 2012 VGX Award for Original Score. You can listen to it in its entirety below.
