IMHO Contempo has put out several reissues of marginal quality, sorry to hear you aren't happy. I suspect Contempo will have a pretty lackluster response for you!

I bought Intrigo A Los Angeles and was disappointed at what I perceive as a lazy job. The music is billed as being 4 'suites', 1 per side but is actually the unedited tapes of many short cues, complete with random voices, bleeps, and odd whirrs of tape speeding up etc in-between tracks- essentially unedited studio masters. It makes for disjointed and un-relaxed listening. I suppose it's cheap for a double but personally I would rather have paid a little more for a proper job, with tracks separated and maybe some sleeve notes. It probably would've fitted nicely on one lp with a bit of the flab removed.

Was really looking forward to these! I dont mind unedited, but over processed or slack mastering is not a good thing.

My big fear amongst this whole reissue boom, quick and unloved cash grab reissues. Which will give the good reissue scene a bad rep.

I once had a reissue lp and halfway through a track you heard a windows dialogue box sound go off!

Oi that was me who said about The Hired Hand. I guess what I meant was that by listening to Minnesota Clay it gave me the same sense of time, place and wonder as The Hired Hand, I didn't mean they were the same but I could of written that more clearly to be honest. Glad I skipped on the other contempo releases now, what a shame and wasted opportunity.

I went to my local store this afternoon, because I knew from discogs that they had a copy of the Splinter Cell : Chaos Theory ost for sale (40$USD) and I did a bit of crate digging and found the Vampire Hunter D. it's not on discogs though, and I don't know the music, and I'm doing a work shift, exceptionally, until midnight tonight so I can't listen to it. is it worth the 16$USD I paid ? probably yeah ? Cult Anime.

@Nathan - You scored on that Vampire Hunter D LP. Nice digging. I picked up a copy from @monsterworship, and it's fantastic. Ethereal sounds. Also, the gatefold LP with the Amano artwork is beautiful.

Yeah it's quite beautiful, and the copy I got looks brand new even though it's used, the condition is superb it's amazing. Good to know it's got ethereal sounds, can't wait to spin tonight when I come home.

There was a couple of other anime ost at that store but I was not familiar with their music etc, there was I think a Battle of the Planets LP.

oh and there was a copy of The Hired Hand for, I think something like 18 $ if anyone is looking for a copy I could pick it up.
