It's OK to be disappointed, frustrated or angry. Stop telling people to not be human. We are 700 on this forum. We all have a voice and different personalities. Stop telling me how I'm supposed to feel like it's some answer on an exam.

Dude, calm down. I'm not telling you how to feel, or for people not to be human. You carry on feeling how you want. I just wanna make it clear that - clearly unlike yourself - I'm not blaming the label for this, just myself for getting caught up in the furore of the split variant. Sure, I'm disappointed I didn't get in on the record I thought I was gonna be buying, but I'd have rather this release sell out extremely quick like it did, that WW not managing to sell, making a loss, and not being able to carry on what they're doing, even if that does mean I missed out this time.

ok, forgive me if this was covered, but I am confused. How do you know if you were one of the first 200 orders? I see everyone mentioning order numbers ranging from 1700 to 2500, but no orders numbered under 1000. Does order number 1000 = 100 in this case? Or did no one one this forum get an order before 1000?

For the love of baby Jesus, someone clear this up for me!

I would guess they're order # system started with Re-Animator and has gone up from there. I think the lowest # so far is on these is 1745?

WW posted this on Facebook a few minutes ago ...

"Hey everyone. The order numbers are no indication as to how many records have been pressed or how many orders have been placed. It's just an order number assigned to customers.

Also, we try hard to avoid flippers. The super variant is limited to 200 units and limited to one per customer.

We hope this answers some of your questions! Thanks guys!"

if they made more of whatever it is so everyone could get one, then it wouldn't be a variant.

i think people tend to forget that these aren't huge record companies with employees and an IT team and whatever else, but one or two person operations / fans just like you making cool stuff that they would want to buy themselves.

for those who are dissappointed, what constructive criticism can you offer the labels for selling such things in a way that will please you next time?

Glad the order number is no indicator. Thanks for letting us know

Being a shit company, according to Ronwell : pressing a LIMITED edition vinyl and not having enough for him.

200 seems like a good bet for a 3rd release from a young label for a limited edition. Death Waltz had 500 evil dead ? they're not sold out yet. waxwork isn't as established as death waltz is, yet. I don't think Waxwork are being dicks for not pressing limited editions for everyone. I mean....it's limited. try to get one. if you don't get one, get the regular edition.

I've missed out on sales for test pressings from phantasma disques in the past. they're very limited. they usually sell out in the first 30 seconds. what you gonna do.

Nice try. I'm talking about how they went about selling it not that they made them. It's just like those racist comments you made.

Don't make it buy and hope for one thing. That's simply a shitty thing to do customers you want to keep. Do what Deathwaltz does, cart it and buy it if you can and when they're gone that's that. Don't just pool everyone together and tell them the order numbers aren't sequential so they think they have a chance. Also, tell customers if they made the cut.
It will all become readily apparent when people start receiving them and comparing their order numbers anyway. If it doesn't jive with their claim, Waxwork is going to have a serious problem on their hands. I know I would certainly return mine and call my credit card company.

@Ronwell You suck. This is a new record company that I'm guessing couldn't predict how popular they would become so fast. Yeah, it sucks if you are one of the people who might not have got a variant especially since you spent the time but no matter how much time you spend still doesn't guarantee you get it. Thats part of the fun and magic of releasing it this way. The hunt.

I just don't see it the same way -- everyone paid the same amount if they chose to buy on the site at launch -- everyone bargained for a copy of Rosemary's Baby on lp -- what color you get next -- as long as it is one of the colors which has been disclosed --- is pure luck. How is this different than pre-internet concert tickets? Everyone rushes to get the best seats and then in the end, some people get amazing seats and some people get great seats. I know I am here to listen to the records I get. I love variants, but if I don't get one I am not going to blame WW, DW or any other label -- I am going to either a) blame the douchebags that are sitting in their parents basement buying and flipping these on eBay or b) celebrate the fact that I am super happy that there are super cool labels making super cool records that lots of people want -- the result being -- some super cool people get to do, for a living, something amazing -- and we get to benefit.

Unfortunately waxworks answer doesn't tell anyone anything, they avoided the question really. Of course the order numbers don't tell us how many were pressed why would they and the order numbers don't tell us how many were ordered because it looks like they are combined with previous releases. What everyone wants to know is which orders made it into the 200 and they cleverly worded the answer to calm people down without answering the question. Personally I've sure got my fingers crossed that I made it but I knew this was a crapshoot when I placed my order and sometimes these limited edition situations just don't work out

I would also vote to have the limited variant be a separate item on the site (and maybe even charge a couple bucks more) so that folks know what they are buying - this is especially relevant for overseas folks who are paying a large premium by buying direct from WW in hopes of getting the variant.

I know that if I *knew* I wasn't getting the variant today, I would have held off and had my wife buy it for me for xmas at her leisure. but as it is now, I had no idea so I completed the transaction and crossed my fingers and then got death stares from my wife for buying myself something so close to xmas. :)

of course, the current system is fine too, folks will learn to adapt to the system, whatever it is - weighing the pros and cons and their own budgets. I know that being a US DW subscriber is not a smart financial decision, but I made it anyway. (but man, I am jealous of the dudes buying from LITA for $20 a pop!!)

with all that said, I am super excited for this edition of Rosemary's Baby. I originally thought I would stick with an original copy on Dot, but I couldn't resist this one!

Hey everyone. We've noticed some questions and concerns regarding "order numbers". Don't sweat it. If you ordered from our website, the chances of getting either variant are great. Direct sales from our website keep this train running, y'all!

Thanks for your support!

Also,

We haven't had the chance to read every post made today in this thread (it's been a busy day), but WOW.

To be clear, we are not a huge record company. We're a two person operation making this happen in one of the most dangerous and poor cities in the US. We do this because we love vinyl, cinema, music, and art. No hidden agendas.

The majority of variants are available from us directly. We posted the drop on this board first. Chances are, if you're reading this, you're golden.

Furthermore, the mystery of what you might get is fun, right? We'd like to think so. We want to be fair. The 200 gram variants were stupid expensive, yet we charged the same price as the regular edition (which is amazing by the way). No matter what you got, we poured our hearts into this project and it has been months in the making. We tracked down master tapes and traveled to make this happen. We love you, dammit!

I salute Waxwork for being able to create products so desirable and high quality with such a small staff, limited resources, etc that it has caused such a stir on this board. Just like all the shit Death Waltz took on here last week because of the subscription questions. It all comes from obsessive fans, which I think as an indie label is a great thing to have. Most indie labels have nowhere near this type of dedication and following. Of course people will get upset when then can't get what they want. That's understandable. It's part of, and a sign of becoming a successful label/company. It means you're doing it right. You can never accommodate everyone or every request.

That said, some of the negative shit that was said today is just sad. To imply ill intentions of the label is just shitty and uncalled for.

I got order 2434. I'm not that concerned with which one I get to be honest. The haze one sounds the coolest to me actually, but even if I get clear I'd be fine. I'm kinda tired of buying tons of copies just to get the limited one at this point.

You guys rule so hard!!! Don't listen to the people bitching and whining (even though I did a small bit of my own ;-P). I for one LOVE the way you're doing it! It adds the thrill of the chase to buying online. Where else can you sit here, talk up a great release with a bunch of other like minded dorks and geeks who love weird music made at a stupid high quality?!? And then to add the "did I get it?! did I get it?!" factor. Come On People!!! This is the best!!!

Uhh, so there might be a chance after all... I ordered a couple of minutes after seeing the message here.

I'm mostly interested in the limited limited edition, because I don't think I've ever seen a 200g record before. I told a buddy of mine the other day that 180g was as far they would go.

But I'll be happy whichever version I get!

@Rasmus Drews: That's actually been around for a while. For example, Björk released her back catalogue on 200g-double-LPs a few years back.
