Man of my own heart disco. Listening to my Palmer Rockey lp right now. Sounds like he's got different music in his cans at times when he sings. Brilliant stuff! I reckon he was listening to the clash when this came out :) Trunk loves this kind of thing. I managed to pick up an original copy of Bob Chance's Its Broken on his recommendation just before he released it on Trunk. Its still sealed! And now sadly on discogs as I need the cash, so if anyone wants to treat themselves for xmas!! ;)

Haha....I've long gotten over my desire to collect original private press lps fortunately, for the sake of my sanity! It can become a true obsession, hits too many art/collector sweet spots for me... otherwise I'd be all over this. Do you know the "Dandelions" record (Tres & Kitsy)? I'll bet that you do. One day I'll make an exception for a reasonable priced copy of that!

The Palmer Rockey story is fascinating and bewildering....and we probably don't even know half of it! Regardless of any of that, the music is sooooo great, and sounds amazing on remastered vinyl!! ;)

Btw -- are there any Texans on the board? I've always wondered whether he really is the stuff of local (hipster?) legend round those parts. Be interesting to know. And also, has anyone seen the damn film??

Agreed disco, legend of a record. As far as dandelions goes, its such a sweet record! Always seems to hit the £350/ $500 mark. You probably wont buy this copy - INFLATED NONSENSE or this - JUST SILLY or REALLY?
Some records need to be hunted in the flesh rather than the net it seems.

haha.....yeah, if that spirit animal is a financially-challenged critter with a bad vinyl habit, for sure... ;)

did you score the batman compilation in the end? it's really worth tracking down...(who'd a thought you could listen to 16 versions of the same theme without irritation!?)

Disco! Checked out Polar Bear today, ace shop some really cool stuff. Picked up the Evil Dead DW (forgot to pick this up from Spencer earlier in the week, currently playing a scaring the cat) and a killer repress of the Coven lp.

Thanks for the info, can see me heading back after this Christmas malarkey is over.

Hey Tony, good news! Yep, it's a little gem of a store, with an authentically grumpy head honcho (get him on a good day, it's hilarious!) who always sorts his regular customers out. It's great to have physical stores still hanging in there, can't be easy - I've taken a chance on so much music that I didn't know thanks to tip-offs from Steve (Polar Bear) Nathan (formerly PB, now Milque & Muhle) and like-minded customers, I can't tell you. Never let me down so far. Now I have to go, as Valhalla Rising OST is blowing the back of my head off (and likely my neighbours too! Day of the Lord indeed.........ODIN!!! ;)

I agree heartily, Static - the sound quality of this press is wonderful, full and warm :) Haven't had time to compare with my 2003 Record Makers edition yet, but will do soon and report back!

Firstly - I do believe this is one sleeve design which somehow wasn't done justice for me until I had it in my own hands: it's stark, brilliant and actually quite creeps me out! ;) Musically, the sound again is exceptional at 45RPM, and while I'm not loving the whole dialogue-interspersed aspect just yet, I think this will definitely grow as a variant listening experience to my original Varese edition.

Musically, and as a non-reissue OST in 2013, this is right into my top ten. And I deliberately chose the WeMe release over the Invada because a) it seems from what the label guy says that he was a little bit screwed by the rights holder really, having worked for years to put this out then discovering just as it was gearing for release that Invada also had an edition releasing the same month! There may well be more to the story, but hey I'm an underdog kind of guy :) and b) i like this artwork a lot! (and as for passing on the red vinyl.....I'm getting more and more bemused, non-plussed and weary by the disproportionate excitement shown over "limited" colour variants. All smacks of the bad-old-days of the comic book scene in the 90s to me, when new titles were being released every week with "limited holographic/foil/platinum embossed" covers. And "fans" -who had no idea yet what the actual work inside was like!- were buying three copies to sit on for the aftermarket. Ugh. I get that when you're an indie you have to stand out, so I don't blame the labels one bit, but what it brings out in fanboys/greed-motivated flippers will always rub me the wrong way. And...relax ;)

So not really a soundtrack, more of a library/Radiophonic type disc - "The Ghosts of Bush" by Howlround is an analogue tape-based set of music structured from recordings of the ambience of an empty building, in the wee small hours. Bush House was the BBC centre HQ where Radiophonic Workshop once ruled, and this was recorded+mixed there just before it finally shut it's doors. Seriously wonderful, spooky and strangely affecting. Highly rec'd!

Yes, I liked that one so much, I got Howlround's follow-up, "Secret Songs of Savamala", recorded in a ruined Customs House in Belgrade. More "hauntology" greatness!

Have a good day, y'all :)

Ghosts of Bush was in my top 5 2012 lps. Have spoken to Mr Fog on many occasions and an exceptionally nice chap he is too!

Listening to Atom Eye's Triology. Not strictly soundtrack but you'd be hard pressed to notice. Bought it on cassette, needs to be released on vinyl. Download for free here http://www.atomeyemusic.com/trilogy-iii
This is excellent dark ambient stuff.

I know this probably doesn't belong here but been reading about LPs pressed in Russia onto x-rays during cold war as it was cheaper than vinyl, and a lot of stuff was banned anyway. Anyone ever see one?

I love reading about these!
Third Man did a tiny, mobile store only run on RSD this year. With oil prices still bouncing around the upper echelons, I'm quite surprised that some enterprising soul hasn't bought up EU/US surpluses of these things for the current market...

@oiche I've never seen one like that, but Pirates Press have pressed onto x-rays (scroll to the bottom -http://piratespress.com/rotw/?p=803).

I spoke to them about pressing some of my own songs onto a shit load of CAT scans that I have from when I was ill a few years back and they were stoked to do it. They would have made around 120 x 7"s, the price was great too. I never went through with it because I didn't what to do with 120 copies of badly recorded music!! Hahahaaaa! Would have been cool as shit though.

I'd love to see/play one of those "bones" X-rays though, they look bad ass... Nasty as!

Chuck, That would definitely have been cool as shit!! Though yes, they would have sounded pretty terrible and maybe not a great way of promoting your talent! Apparently the russian ones pressed in the 1950s/ 1960s were unplayable after a few spins which doesn't stop me wanting one. I love the freaky side of this stuff we call vinyl.
