@static - is that the Psycho release on the Doxy label? If so, how is the sound quality? I've seen it around but it's always a little on the pricey side. I think they're the same ones who did the 3 LP box set too, which I'm hesitant to but as well, since I haven't heard/seen any of these LP's in person.

And there is no shame in Mancini of any kind - he's one of my favorite all time composers - the man was a genius. I feel like he often gets an undeserved bad rap due to the popular nature of a lot of his soundtracks.

@4000Days Psycho sounds okay. It's the only available LP with the original music as recorded for the film so to me it was worth grabbing even with the okay sound.

Their Hitchcock boxset on the other hand is amazing. The sound quality is great and NBNW and Vertigo are both expanded. I highly recommend it.

Alright, thanks for further pushing towards buying these - it just so happens that I have $100 sitting in my PayPal account right now, which will conveniently cover the cost of both Psycho and the box set (which I thought was 3 LP's but looks like 4?)

Yeah it's four LP's. The Wrong Man is the first 2 sides, NBNW and Vertigo are 3 sides each.

@static14, this one is getting hard to find but I was able to picked it up for $45 + $5 shipping from The Jazz Loft. Got the last one if an order was not ahead of mine. The confirmation email I got said processing could take up to 7 days because of the sale so could be a few days before I know for sure.

tonyandrewgiles: Have you read Muir's "The Films of John Carpenter"? It's more chunky, but because of the ways it's set up (with two colums of text on each page and very few pictures), I haven't felt a great need to dive into it yet...
