An honorable pursuit. Pavilion of Dreams is one of my favorite albums ever.

Always nice to see this out on a turntable. Possibly one of the best ambient albums ever recorded.

edit: just flipped through discogs for a bit. I always thought the brown vinyl was a reissue and not a limited edition pressing from 1994. Either way, I prefer the pressing on black vinyl. I believe my brown vinyl copy has some defects.

@deafmetal - First press was the ‘limited’ Brown, then black shortly after (ironically much more limited). No question the black sounds better, the browns all had some defects, mine included. Having said that, most of mine sounds pretty clear, amazing for 90s coloured pressings!

@Oiche - Good info, thank you. I picked up a black vinyl pressing in the mid-90's, and a few years later grabbed a "new" brown vinyl off the shelf in a record shop. I thought for sure it was a reissue, haha. It was difficult to get solid info back then... usually all I had to go on was the crappy write-ups in the US distro mailers.

One has to think there will be a repress of the early Aphex albums at some not-too-distant future point. There's just too much money to be made.

The Budd is a spectacular recommendation, thank you...I had not heard this before....

Anyone out there put on a pair of headphones and listened to the newest Anna von Hausswolff?

Really loving this little trinity.

Koto played by Toshiko Yonekawa alongside arrangements by Kiyoshi Yamaya and the contemporary sound orchestra.
I presume, traditional Japanese melodies contemporised with some really great arrangements, soulful, jazzy, funky, loungey. Seriously mellow grooves :)

I have done some nice rips of all three lps PM me if interested.

Man, I hadn't heard anything about this album here in the states, saw a quick mention on Twitter a couple of days ago. Seems like all the good music recommendations are mostly coming from here or following some of the independent cassette and record labels. Not a surprise here, this is an impressively passionate and knowledgeable group I've stumbled upon.

Oiche wrote:Sadly no. Bought the 11 EPs at the time but didnt get the binder.
Don't be sad, as you are probably better off that way! The PVC sleeves in the binder released some heavy off-gas onto the vinyl. My copies all looked completely trashed. Yet another death blow for PVC getting anywhere near vinyl. This off-gassing damaged the wax even through another layer of polyethylene inner sleeves. I can't believe people are still slinging vinyl in PVC sleeves. Throw that crap out.

@Dollarhyde - You know I'm into those mellow grooves. I will send you a PM.

Yes Mateo! Such a good album! Remember making a mixCD with Carry me Ohio on at the time, which brings back good memories. This is on my headphones tonight.
