good question...
just because i try to pick up the cherries, it does not mean i get some rotten fruit from time to time, haha! many of my blind purchases turn out to be like that. also experience and mp3 sharing helps a lot!
attitude is different to describe. some [to me unknown] records i pick up for the cover, some for the concept, the track titles, the artist, the label,... with attitude it is the same as for the cherries. some records look much better than they sound if you know what i mean...

Sharing rips definitely helps! Those Luciani records are odd, they seemingly came out of nowhere and were quickly snapped up for big money prices.

Marco from Cinedelic is the only person that i know, selling some of them Publispei officially. since i am a lazy bastard with discogs listings, i have 'borowed' some of his covers for the submissions.

they did not even make it to the Library Music book, if i remember correctly.

my last sealed copies of Tommasi's second private library label. really like these two, especially the Made In USA record. both records made in cooperation with his friend Alessandro Brugnolini, written and recorded in Tommasi's basement in rome. these dudes are/were so creative!

i read that most of the Made In USA records were destroyed in a feisty argument with his wife. can't say how much truth is in this story but it is definitely something that puts a smirk on my face every time i hold this in record hands...

by the way, my discogs account has been hacked yesterday night.

some poor wiener made some nasty changes that i had to undo as far as i could:

- posting a x-rated picture in my profile
- changing my user name MillionDollars to the nasty name KillAllChildren (what the hell!?)
- adding some tastless comments in my profile such as: F**K YOU IN YOUR A** B**CH
- deleting my complete inventory ans maybe some other things that i did not find out yet

luckily i use this account for reviews and submissions mostly so i am not badly hit...but, i mean, WTF????!?!?!
i know some people can't deal with my sometimes sharp comments but still. this is record collecting, not a life and death competition...

Another question pops up though: how do you know what cherries to pick? To me it all sounds so obscure that one could hardly know how the music sounds like on some of those records.
Also, what do you mean by attitude? I guess a great looking cover would be enough to warrant a purchase?

Interesting questions, and answers. To add I think part of the fun is not knowing what cherries to pick ( this goes for record digging in general).
In other words I get a lot of enjoyment in uncovering hidden or obscure gems. You can use an attitude (like @millie said) or follow a particular artist or session player or certain time periods also.

Oh and that Terzo Mondo record. I have played it a LOT in Spotify. Love it. Played it for my friends and they said; very interesting. It's kinda futuristic, but still sounding somewhat "normal".

@Steve: that Terzo Mondo on Colimbo is my favourite in that particular library genre. there are other records in the similar vein that are worth checking them out. (Servizio Speciale by Umiliani, Terzo Mondo on Le Monde and Terzo Mondo on Iller are the ones that I can think of now). all of them are very interesting records though...

there seems to be a lot of writing which really attracts me. the Music Library book is good for pictures but has very little information for my taste so this one looks really interesting!
