Wow, JR. Haul City. Love the spoken word stuff. I have Black Hole and Tron myself. Which edition of Chocolate & Cheese did you grab?

The Plain Records release. How's the pressing quality, JR?
#110471
I’ve only listened to the yellow one, but it was a casual listen, but it seemed fine. Does it have a history?

In that bunch of records I got, the Prison, Plan 9 and Nightmare 4 were original versions, but had never been opened. The guy I grabbed them off has found some warehouse somewhere that has a pile of unopened stock of Varese Sarabande titles (and others) from the 80s. I must admit at first I was a little pissed if that they were unopened as I wasn’t sure if I should be the one to open them... but decided an unlistened Record has failed to reach its potential so I’d better do it.

I like that line of thinking.

Plain Records has a pretty spotty history of pressings/masterings/sources, but they have had a few decent records along the way as well. I've never heard anything either way about C&C so I was curious. It can be had on the relative cheap as well so color me interested.

HOW WAS THE SHOW?
Dude, the show was dynamite, loved the tracks which were new to this tour (no spoilers!) but the sound at Shepherd's Bush Empire was awful. Just a dirge, no definition or separation of instruments, a lot of Daniel's guitar solos were barely audible. Kinda bummed me out tbh but I rode through it.
Oh, and apparently JJ Abrams was there.

Where were you watching from at the gig @ScoJo... would have been nice to meet up and put a face to the moniker..? ;)

Ran into your old partner on the airwaves and the Burning Witches guys downstairs.

I was standing ... and didn't think the sound was too bad from where I was - mind you it *was* quite packed and there was a fair bit of crowd chatter during the newer (the two Lost Themes) tracks. Overall though I enjoyed it more than the Troxy from 2016 - I think because my expectations weren't as sky high as the first time I saw the show.

Couldn't bring myself to part with £50 for that signed vinyl so got these instead - happy to celebrate the madness of a 'Carpenter Cassette Box'. :)

Nicely done, fellas. I really wish the tour was hitting my corner of the map again. I need to pay the fare some day here soon and head down to LA for a festival or a show. JC on Halloween night next week would be a blast...

@ScoJo @spun, colour me jealous.

I take it that's the tour edition of the LP, Scott? I'm hoping to pick it up in Glasgow on Friday, part of a double bill seeing the new film before heading to the gig. To say I'm looking forward to Friday is a bit of an understatement. Unlikely I'll bump into Mr Gilliam, but you can't have it all!

@spun, I don't have any way to play them but damn that box makes me want the tapes too!

That' the one @chief - red with black splatter. I've pre-ordered the 'fancy' version direct from Sac Bones but honestly cant recall if it differs in any way from the tour version!

Have yourself a blast mucker!!

Thanks Scott. I wasn't 100% sure they'd be on sale at all dates, especially 'pre-release'. I seem to remember there was more to the fancy version, but I'm happy to pick up the tour one mainly as I far prefer the cover. If it wasn't on sale at the Barras I was going to try and get the Dinked edition in store.

Sweet haul there.

I snuck over to my HPB yesterday like a thief in the night. My mind swelled with rage as I flipped through bins and bins of musicals and utter trash. I found beat up copies of Fiddler on the Roof and Saturday Night Fever priced at $9.99, $14.99 and even $19.99. Thumbed through a bin of common Beatles records priced like the rare antiquities they aren't.

....then I found a MoFi copy of Zeppelin II for fifty bucks with a little wear on the jacket and mint condition disc. Go figure.

1980s MoFi have a bad reputation as inferior, but I wouldn't include this in that category. This has almost all the balls of the RL pressing with more clarity and presence.

This story has it all. The highs, the lows; even a twist ending.

I have the might of @Dollarhyde to thank for helping me finally score this beauty - minty fresh and clean as a whistle, as Japanese pressings from Japanese sellers often are!

This includes Takemitsu's killer 'clanging n' moaning' trad/avant garde score for KWAIDAN, been after this for many (painted backdrop) moons.....

There have been a few different series of Takemitsu-san's film music on vinyl, I love the artwork on this series/volume.

Oh now that’s just gorgeous. Nice buy man. Think I might pop kwaidan in this week, been a while since I’ve watched it.
