Boneschi - Synthetics

My Boneschi luck continues. Grabbed this for (what I think was) a nice price as well as few more CAM New Sensation In Sound entries (CmL 44 and 66). Hoping to track down the few remaining treasures (that i know of) for similar nice prices.

totally fell in love with the odd Sensazioni record, even if i have it in my collection for quite some time. it is such a great library record and one of those pieces that you like a little more, every time you play it. did a little review on the record (see link below). you can hear the full album on Sonors bandcamp. such a yummy delicacy...

seriously good KPM number and another one that expanded my musical horizon and forced me to learn about new artists. it is one of those releases where i am wondering how they came about. Rogario Duprat is a brazillian composer and this seems to be his sole product in the library world on a UK based label. there is one more exotic KPM by the famous tiki master Les Baxter, that must have been releases simultaneously (subsequent number), but the Baxter one is a reissue of one of his US albums. i was always thinking that the Brazillian Suite recording must be one of Duprat's public world albums being re-wrapped, but it does not seem to be the case. despite this fact, it is a super groovy orchestral album with touches of jazz and exotica, adding some brazillian flavour, but less than one would expect from the album title. sound quality and recording is so amazing, that i assume it was recorded in one of the famous KPM sessions in the UK, rather than in brazil, but it is only an assumption. anyway, really enjoyable from start to finish...

@tex and @millie what can you tell me about the Mario Nascimbene reissue from Rotary? I like most of the Rotary/Dual stuff.

oh ? Anyone did a comparison between this one and the 2015 release ? I'm not sure I want to double dip, but this new edition is not too expensive, I might need to buy that and sell my old one.

oh wow, did not see these reissues! the Psycorama is quite nice but can be picked up for about 50€ if you are the OG-type of guy. can't judge on the reissue quality but Roundtable did a great job on everything they did previously. also, really good to see Sea Fantasy again and i am quite sure that it can't be worse than the previous reissue, which was really terrible. i believe i sold mine for 10€.

also, talking 'bout reissues. two very fine Jacky Giordano records get the reissue treatment. it looks like they are available already. really love these two! super classic sleazy lounge stuff. but again, no clue how these sound...

The trunk reissue did not have a good reputation I suspect roundtable did a better job of it.

I’ve gotten my hands on both Giordano reissues. I’m no audiophile but to my ears, they sound fantastic.

Bernard Parmegiani is a well respected electronic pioneer and Chants Magnetiques, which means magnetic songs, is the perfect title for this almost classic electronic oddity. some of the finest tape experimentalism you need to hear at least once before you die! the cover is a beauty for itself and i believe that it did not take much more to create this album: a tape recorder with a microphone, a bottle of a hefty bordeaux, ripe cheese and some inspiring sun rays...

ok i know, this is not a real library record! but if you are a little into library and do not see the numerous details and allusions, you are blind (or rather deaf). the title Profondeur 4000 was most probabyl borrowed from the french Mondiophone library Profondeur 1000 and if you look ath the cover art, you can see Herbana on Umiliani's Omicron label. the labels describtion about this record makes things totally clear finally (see below). anyway, it is such a lovely record and i keep listening to it a lot. if you are into dreamy ambient, below the water surface, this one is for you!

Last time we heard from the Growing Bin, Basso was sat at the water‘s edge, trousers rolled up, toes in the tide, savouring a Falanghina while Eleventeen Eston went with the wave. Now we move from the shoreline to the ocean shelf, led on an underwater adventure by young Parisian Shelter. Where previ- ous releases have seen the synth-obsessed Frenchman take his inspiration from Caribbean rhythms or Balearic attitudes, this marine missive sees Shelter turn to the lavish world of the library, creating his an alternate score to Jean Faurez’ 1960 documentary short.
More submersible than snorkel, our journey begins in the very dark of the deep, mystical harp trills echoing through the inky blackness, picking up the bioluminescent shimmer of an Abraliopsis Squid. Gradually we make our way into the light, cruising past shoals of silver scales and underwater forests. ‚Immersion’ offers a placid, percolating rhythm and billowing pads, providing sonic symmetry for the dancing leaves, while the spheric soundscape of ‘La Vie A L’Ombre’ bubbles away like an underwater volcano. The optimistic ambience of ‘Plenitude Azotee’, brimming with delicate melody and glistening sequences, perfectly captures the wide-eyed wonder of a reef dive, before drifting into the serenity of ‘Parade’, an aquatic acquaintance of A.R.T. Wilson’s ‘Overworld’. A brief foray into shark fin funk sees out the A-side, before we’re back amid the beauty of the ocean floor; ‘Variation Abyssale II’ echoing the album opener but with even more poetry. The exotic and otherworldly sine waves of ‘Dans La Jungle De Varech’ simultaneously sound like a rainforest canopy, alien landscape and coral microcosm, expanding our horizons nicely ahead of the adrenaline rush of ‘Hors D’Haleine’. Shelter then sets us at ease with the tidal tonality and subtle shuffle of ‘Fumeurs Noirs’, a sublime synthetic suite, then leaves us to marvel at the soft focus splendour of ‘Synthii Outro’.

This is Jules Verne by way of Vangelis, just grab your goggles and take the plunge...

Pretty cool record. Psych tinged dark suspense, tension stuff. no beats or lounge but no cheese ball either, it's heavy stuff but not melodic. It has some of the instrumentation and production style of ritmo dell'industria n2 mixed in a blender with a suspense and a war library.

Thank you, tex, will listen later. I'm intrigued by the rtv catalogue, which is still only partially documented online: bombs and blunders aplenty.
