CrossedPete wrote: Thu Apr 08, 2021 2:17 pm It sounds great. Like you I had the cd growing up. I feel its one of the better tribute albums out there. I had both volumes and for the life of me I can’t find my CD copy of this release. I found vol 2 no problem but vol 1 must of got up and walked away. So I was excited when it was released for RSD. Didn’t get that version as it never showed up in my city, and the aftermarket prices were too rich for my blood. So I was happy to find they released it on black vinyl earlier this year. Now I hope they put out vol 2. They have to right?
Not sure. I didn't even know there was a second volume until a year or so ago and my recollection of it is that it's largely a more modern metal affair. The first one was an pretty big release at the time, but I truthfully couldn't tell you if the second did nearly as well.
Vol.2 is great I might like it better than vol.1. I’ve definitely listened to it more. There’s more bands I’m into on vol.2, Megadeth,Slayer and Pantera to name a few. Also add in a couple great newer bands (at that time) like Godsmack, Monster Magnet and System of a Down. I remember the Primus track getting a lot of play on the radio back in the day, probably because Ozzy is on it. Honestly both volumes are great and somewhat hard to find these days on CD at least :)

That's a killer record, Pete. And an oft-sampled one as well.

Static, I see you.

I love this record.
Indeed! Those great reggae records all seem to have this happy melancholy sound and message in them

"Up from the 36 Chambers!"

Love this one. It definitely needs a cleaning, there's some nasty noise between tracks, not terrible while playing though. I think it may just be incredibly dirty.

Awesome! I don't have this one. I wish I had bought all the Wu albums years ago when they used to be at my local shop for dirt cheap. These days all the prices are getting silly. I have so much Wu on CD that I never really wanted to rebuy them at the time.

It's a cold, pulsing madness. It's a little Vangelis "Blade Runner" and a little Pye Corner Audio (it does keep this nice tension between a more "modern" synthwave approach and something more shimmering and new age).

Here is also a pay-what-you-want 30-minute digital release by Warrington-Runcorn: https://warringtonruncorn.bandcamp.com/ ... otion-wave

This is...really good.

I'm halfway through Interim Report 1979 right now. How's the pressing?

Sounds nice - no noise, nice and clear. The bummer is that it looks like both pressing (first on yellow and second on white) are sold out at the label. I wish you luck in the wild.

On his web site, he says he'll have a follow-up release this summer.

So as Reddye probably knows but Mateo you may not be hip to the Castles in Space label, they tend to sell out pretty quickly on most of their stuff. You can get lucky sometimes and score a copy from Juno or Transmission after the sell out. It looks like currently Juno will be getting some copies and you can sign up for a notification of when get their stock

Honestly I find the stuff that CiS is putting out substantially more interesting than stuff BWR is releasing these days. I would own more releases but being a UK company shit is expensive to import over here. I posted that Salvatore Mercatante album a few months ago from that label and I love it. They just released a new one from Everyday Dust as well that I think anyone into that 80's pulsating Carpenter stylings will enjoy

Thanks, Inks. i signed up for that Juno notification last night, but I didn't realize they often got their Castles releases. I have some Polypores records on CIS and I feel like something else as well. I'm pretty choosey about my synth stuff these days as, for my taste, there's a razor thin line between what I want to hear and more derivitive or same-y sounds. That Warrington Runcorn album is right down Main St. for me.

The Eccentronic Research Council - The Dreamcatcher Tapes Vol 1 & 2 2-LPs (another Castles in Space release, although this is a vinyl reissue of material that was on cassette)

Similar to Delia Derbyshire's The Dreams -- People recounting dreams with electronic music behind it.
