I was kind of bummed the Death Waltz release didn't include the Jimmy Chambers vocal version of the main theme. It wasn't used in the film but it's a great track and would have been nice to include it. I know it was included on an old CD release of the soundtrack.

I often wondered if the actual "songs" used in films are a problem for record companies. Rights issues and all that. It would just be nice to have a complete soundtrack...like if they did Don't Go In The House OST I want the Jerre Palmer "Late Night Surrender" and L'Ectrique " Struck By Boogie Lightning". Even a Maniac re-release with "Going To The Show Down" on it.

I vaguely remember reading about that track, but I don't remember where... It sounds great, but where was it used and why was it made (if it wasn't in the film)?

I think it was originally slated for the ending credits. John Carpenter was involved in it and the single release of it also had "Julie's Theme" on the B side.

Here it is if you want to give it a listen.

Pretty awful really, but would be fun to own on a 7"!

This song is used in the end credits of the Italian version of the movie.
I never understood why it wasn't included in any CD / LP.

It's not like it's going to be re-issued on it's own. May as well have thrown it in there, even if it was just a limited flexi disc (like the Halloween III Silver Shamrock flexi)

Maybe Spence can make a flexi for the reissue - I still love this track :)

@LoboLives

Talking of vocal versions, there's always the Terranova featuring Tricky track 'Bombing Bastards' which samples heavily from the Assault on Precinct 13 theme - a dark and menacing take which sounds more in keeping with the way Death Waltz rolls to me...

You can compare the two tracks side by side here:
