@ninjaqutie - i do not. i have never been able to afford it when it goes up. i refuse to pay for records with a credit card anymore, so i have to have cash in hand, and i pretty much NEVER have that much cash in hand. and by cash in hand, i of course mean a certain amount i set aside every paycheck that sits in my bank account. i keep track of every record purchase and deduct from that amount as i go along.i currently have $35 in there. so i hope that all of these new releases from DW, OWS, WW, and MONDO are spaced out a little bit, buuuuuut i doubt it.

a bit off topic, but congrats on being cash only Layne. it took me until much later in life to make that switch. the convo with my wife when she saw the balance on my 'hobby' credit card was not one I'd like to relive...

It must be a new trend, cash only, one I have been on for a while. I use my credit card but, like Layne, I make sure I have the cash. I do not carry a credit card balance. If a purchase will cause me to have to carry a balance I pass on it. Recently I sold some on my vinyl so currently I have a paypal balance which is nice. Once it's gone, I'll go back to my credit card rules.

right on, fellas. this is why my "upcoming releases" list from all of the labels mentioned before makes me nervous. i think i have 10 releases on that list. that's around $300, and that is only if they are all available stateside and i don't have to pay int'l shipping and currency conversion. we'll see how it pans out, though.

So is it confirmed that a copy of TCM soundtrack is guaranteed if attending mondo con? I'm already attending Fantastic Fest, but willing to skip out on some screenings for Death Waltz.

Ah, just realized it is a separate ticket (that is sold-out) for admission to TCM screening than simply the mondocon ticket.

Ah, guess it did sell out. If for some reason my friend flakes out I will post about the extra ticket on the forum.

Am I right in thinking subbers are due Black Rainbow/HOTD & Texas ( for those that picked it up)?

I believe they were supposed to ship this week.

Please let me know, I bought a Sunday Mondo Con ticket, but didn't find the separate eventbrite until it was too late. I am NOT looking to flip the record and really want to be a part of the event, so if anybody knows somebody that can't make it, please let me know (email: sendblakehere@gmail.com)

My guess, and hope, is that this would mean more affordable shipping prices for subscriptions and single releases for both North America and Europe.

Congratulations! I had sent a note to Mondo a while ago asking if they had any plans to create a soundtrack subscription service like Death Waltz has, but the person said they had no plans at that time. But now...

So Spencer, will you be moving to Austin?

I guess this makes sense in a way, but my initial reaction to this is a whole lot of stomach turning. I've been following both labels pretty religiously since day one, but I can't help but be met with a lot of mixed emotions. Hopefully it's all for the best.

And why is this announcement on P4K? They suddenly care about this whole world? Just seems odd.

Deep breath...wow...I'm a big DW fan but I think mondo suck so I hope we get mondo becoming more like DW than than the other option which does not bear thinking about.

Congratulations to Spencer anyway as I'm sure it's a big thing for him and congratulations to mondo for getting someone onboard who actually knows something about customer service.

The term "vinyl" finally found a real meaning :)

My initial reaction was 'oh no...' as until now they have seemed like different, albeit increasingly pally beasts, especially with all the Mondo Con pre-amble

Mondo seems to get a lot of complaints on here about how it handles its releases, although the actual product is superb, so my hope is that Spencer can improve that rather than Death Waltz (already great) go the way of Mondo... will both labels co-exist I wonder or just become one and the same?

Spencer said on another thread that the two labels will remain separate.

Well if Mondo titles can be available to a UK audience at more affordable prices - and I guess vice versa with DW in the US - then that is one positive...

Perhaps Mondo can concentrate on its toys and posters and leave the vinyl to Spencer. Or that is the idea

The big question on everyone's lips is, "Will Mondo get better, or will Death Waltz get worse?" I've passed on a lot of Mondo titles because I feel bad for sending them money.

I don't have a problem with either label, everything has its good and bad points. Still, I have a hard time seeing how this will work effectively... but I guess time will tell.

Hopefully now DW will offer a sub within the US for folks who no longer can afford the terrible exchange rate - although that might fix itself soon anyway if Scotland jumps ship and the pound plummets!
