I live in Birmingham, West Midlands, UK - very healthy Indian/Pakistani population in my home town! I don't see them around in odd little stores so much these days - probably all us crazy crate diggers have wiped out stocks over the years!

Bollywood can be very overwhelming, especially for non-Indians There's a great record store in Singapore that has tons of these in very good condition. One would need at least two days to go through those, especially since they're not arranged in a manner that makes sense...

The popularity is definitely picking up here in the states - I have seen dedicated used Bollywood sections at a few used record stores this side of the pond. But my eyes glazed over with cluelessness when I leafed through them.

I did snag a copy of Jaani Dushman which led me to look at Laxmikant Pyarelal who has no less than 17 billion releases.

As a quick, lazy (yet not untrue) recommendation.....you really can't go wrong with R.D.Burman. If you get anything from the 60s-70s by him, chances are there will be some mad funk-pop-psyche-Bolli fusion loveliness in there somewhere

the only one I have is the Bollywood Bloodbath compilation from Finders Keepers. I don't think I'll dig too much in the genre, not from a lack on interest but rather from lack of money to invest in them hehe

Keep on meaning to pick up a copy of shalimar, dharmatma is another gooden.

@disco I once had a copy of hum kisise naheen 'the lovers paradise' track is killer.

I have a few bollywood gems will try and post them later.

if you see Commander for cheap it's well worth picking up crazy synth electro disco.

Muqaddar ka sikandar is great but my pressing is awful, a common issue with these lps.

Kush naseeb is on the same label as commander and this seems to be reflected in the production of some tracks, really nice synths and basslines.

Anybody else encountered this label?

As with most bollywood lps I have heard these only contain one or two really good tracks.

And yes I agree - that Ananda Shankar album is bloody brilliant!
