Hey @monster - it does appear (after some looking into it, and thanks to others researching on this board) that the stock which recently appeared on DIsney Music Emporium (and is now sadly depleted) was some found stock of the original pressing, rather than a recent repress.

If that's true, it's good news for those who happened to get the word and jump straight on it, and very annoying news for yourself and others.....

We'll see - I'll really only believe this turn of events when it lands on my UK doorstep!

I forgot I'd pre-ordered Vampyr. Thanks Royal Mail, I think this package was trailing along the floor of the post lady's cart. Soaking wet on one corner, only slightly damaged tho.

Something I've been wondering, is pre-ordering normal for most of the labels you guys pay attention to? Other than soundtracks, the extreme metal and industrial/noise labels I keep up with, do not do pre-orders.

Really? Tons of metal/hc labels do preorders at varying wait intervals, some that I bought from that come to mind;

Hell I preordered King Diamond records that came bundled with shirts from metal blade.

I have a more than a few preorders queued up for some death/black metal releases. It is not exclusive to OST's.

I guess it's just me, then! For metal, I just check Nuclear War Now! or Hells Headbangers. One of the two usually stocks everything I need, I just order when it's in stock.

Has anyone added up the costs of all their pre-orders? I've only done the pre-order for the DW 10" recently because it was affordable (hoping it arrives without a split seam unlike City of the Living Dead). I'm even thinking of not pre-ordering Cannibal Holocaust as I'm hoping there will be a huge pressing.

I also find myself not really needing every score or colorway (there are exceptions), like I maybe did a year or two ago.

I am now more interested in extensive liner notes and a nice package/design than I am in what the vinyl looks like. I will, however, still be pursuing that Friday the 13th blood filled version... That is one limited edition that I might actually be willing to pay semi-serious money for second hand.

NYTimes says Superior Viaduct licensed the music.

"The impetus [to reissue the album] arose partly from the release of a version last year on Superior Viaduct, which licensed it from Concord Music Group, that was said to have been drawn from the long-lost “Nommos” master tapes. Mr. Leon, who did not give the project his blessing, said it was actually derived from an inferior copy."


I suspect it's a similar situation to the Mars Volta / Music on Vinyl "disagreement" where MoV properly licensed the music and then Mars Volta accused them of bootlegging because they hadn't personally signed off. But if you don't own the rights, that's kind of tough shit isn't it?
