I've just received an email from HopeStreet Recordings about a brand new Emma Donovan and The PutBacks' 7".

Daddy is a "frenetic psych/soul stomper" pressed on 150 hand numbered records.

Looking forward to this phantomnoir! Sent in my silly drawing and cash to trunk towers yesterday.

@si what a nice surprise. Listened to the album through twice on Cockify this morn. Very lovely indeed. Instantly reminded me of Nico - Chelsea Girl lp and on second listen got a little feeling that maybe Kimya Dawson/Moldy Peaches may have got a little inspiration from this record. Definitely has that anti-folk feel about it. Will definitely be picking up. Cheers for the heads up.

Am checking Ms. Funke out this evening once I've got a writing thing out of the way, thanks!

Myriam's record is just so odd - I listened to it (btw, stumbled across it while looking for Vikesh Kapoor's 'Ballad of Willy Robbins'which is another corker) and utterly loved it while thinking "I'm fairly sure that nobody else will get this" because it starts off a bit miserable. I'm really thrilled that when I get others to listen, they really like it as well - and that's probably why it's my favourite record this year, just for the word-of-mouth enthusiasm that is so rare these days :)

Sylvain Chauveau - Nocturne Impalpable released for the first time on vinyl. I cannot say enough great things about this record. It is just incredibly beautiful from start to finish. If you like modern classical at all or the soundtracks of Johann Johannsson & Max Richter, you need to give this a listen.

Just been given Duke Garwood's Heavy Love for reviewing purposes, and I can honestly say, even less than a dozen days into 2015 that this is going to be VERY hard to top as my favourite record of the year...

Out February 9th on Heavenly.

U.S. (and possibly U.K. & Euro, too), check out Red Eye Records UK if you are interested in the Enter The Plague EP. The Clone.nl site shipping cost to the U.S. was €28 whereas the total cost including shipping from redeyerecords.co.uk was £11.31.

Inventions (blokey out of Eluvium plus him off of Explosions In The Sky) have a new one out very soon! Maze Of Woods sounds like more of the same, which is absolutely fine and dandy in my book.

Link here for preordering shenanigans - there's another version with a 12" of remixes but the bloody page it links to is dead :(
EDIT: Ah. That's because it sold out yesterday when it went on sale. My "things getting sold out yesterday while I didn't notice" quotient for the 13th of January is surprisingly high.

Hi @Pat - did you ever make your Scanners re-score available to own anywhere, out of interest - even as a Soundcloud or Bandcamp download?

Know many of us have jumped on the pressing of the original score this week with the Mondo vinyl release - but thought your own was fresh and brought something to the proverbial party.

The live concert version of our Scanneres ReScore is still on our soundcloud page...

https://soundcloud.com/the-southern-ten ... ern-tenant

And I will record a studio version at some point (probably end of 2015) and either self-release on Johnny Rock Records or see if Death Waltz or someone else could do it...

In the meantime if you email me at info@southerntenantfolkunion.com I could send you link to live MP3s if you want to download so you can listen offline...

Cheers
Pat
PS I'd love to get a copy of the Scanners/Brood that came out this week - though with the Mondo/Death Waltz tie up I'm not sure if it's going to be available in UK at a sensible price...hope so...
