Boom!

It's a great one for sure, @Royally.

I wandered into my local brick and mortar store today to give him a small gift for all his good deals/stocking cool stuff for me over the last year (it was a spare copy of the original '71 Apple LP of Jodorowsky's "El Topo"....he seemed pretty pleased!)

Of course, whilst there, I snagged something:

One thing I love about this LP - the front promises "...and other Galactic Funk by......." and then, you flip it over and lo and behold:

Classy.

@disco, Meco Star Wars is great! I love it! I also recommend his disco-ization of The Wizard of Oz. Wonderful! :)

@disco That Meco Star Wars is pretty fun. This inspires me to dig out my favorite disco OST remix in my collection...

@deaf

my favorite disco OST remix

....Which would be...?

I'm really pretty partial to the Splash Band/John Carpenter stuff.....the Starman 12" is a bit harder to find than others, and is super-80s-remix-fun:

@RoyallyBland: the Camille 2000 is really essential if you ask me plus you will not get it in another format. as far as i know never released on vinyl before. i believe this has been sampled by a lot hip hop producers.

recommended!

This morning I gets a knock at the door and take delivery of a parcel sent by @HNC, now Creature is my best bud and anytime I want to order something from the U.S. he's always my go to and every time he's ever sent anything it's arrived in utterly perfect condition.

I knew he'd mailed me something I'd ordered before Christmas but standing there looking at the size of the box something didn't add up.

I bust the thing open and look at this haul!

These are just awesome, if there's one thing I dig in this world it's some stone cold disco funk, oh and Tom Sellick.

I take the box out of the package and see there's something else in there, open that one to find this lot!

Now aside from loving me some disco I'm also a massive metal fan, I'd grown up with Iron Maiden but until this point had never owned a Maiden lp (only CDs, boo hiss) so you can imagine the shock I got seeing all of these, it's like being given a gift from the metal gods!

I take that box out of the package and see that there's yet another box...

This one floored me.

All original US pressings, many with their original inserts and posters.

I've never been ashamed to admit to being a KISS fan & while I do own a few albums they're mostly crummy reissues on budget labels.
To have these is something I've always wanted but always put off because something always came up.

Needless to say @creature (Nick) has totally blown my mind with not only his massive act of generosity but also with his suburb packing and secret keeping skills!

Wasn't sure where to post this but feeling very chuffed with all these new additions :)

^ Crikey!

I'd definitely feel compelled to throw the Magnum on first ;)

Some gems today - I've been hitting as much Cooder as I can get recently:

Michael Kamen, excellent moody Brit stuff, downbeat:

It's crazy - I never had this!:

Well....I've wanted this so bad since the MondoCon reveal. It really is superb on every level. Iron Jaiden killed it.
And the score is....well, just so wrong for the film, but a really interesting listen. You can practically feel North stretching himself in new directions to meet Kubrick's astonishing images and demanding criteria. I've only had one listen, but my first thought was "this is probably the best music he ever composed...."

@Layne -- Pee Wee is one of my all time fave film scores. Burton and Elfman caught lightning in a bottle with that one :) And as a bonus, it comes paired with the score for Back to School! Get it!!

@disco - here is my favorite guilty disco pleasure:

especially the B-side "Helm's Deep" with the funky orc army chorus:

I should probably start a separate thread on my elaborate Leonard Rosenman LotR vinyl collection. I'm a bit obsessed.
